Cathedral of the Sea

One of the largest and most impressive Cathedrals in the world is located off Pl. Reina, by the calm waters of the bay.The huge Gothic towers and interior were finished by Gaudi in 1909, after 300 years of construction starting in the 14th century.

Plenty of history and the architecture should keep one for at least a couple of hours

Pueblo Espanol

Capitan Mesquida Veny, 39, This re-creation of 100 of Spains most famous buildings means you can explore all the regions of Spain in one place. The construction took 2 years in the 60s to complete (Makes you wander why some Cathedrals took 300 years). If you are here for a short stay this will give you a good introduction to the rest of Spain.

La nit de Sant Joan

(Saint John's night) is celebrated every year on June 24th at Parc de la Mar. This is a good excuse for a party, and the park comes to life with dancing, eating, drinking and being merry. The big fireworks display is the night before. No one knows what its all about , let alone cares. This would be a good one to co-incide with your break.

Located in the adjacent resort of El Arenal. Lots to please the kids here with tubes emptying the riders into a big pool and themed areas including Tsunami, The Grand Canyon and the Devils Tale. For smaller children there is the Mini Park, Dragoland and Polynesia. Plenty of green areas for sunseekers to hang out. Take a day for this.

Carrer Sant Joan 1 near the waterfront, this is one of the most atmospheric clubs, certainly in Spain. The decor is quietly undiscribeable and the 19th century courtyard is decorated with caged birds, wicker chairs, fountains, sculpture and romantic candlelight. In keeping with the surroundings, classical music is played. Not a bar, museum or club, but an experience.
