The construction took 2 years in the 60s to complete (Makes you wander why some Cathedrals took 300 years). Spectacular location on top of a hill commanding views of the town and out to sea. The circular castle was constructed in the 14th century as a summer residence for royalty. Though it has more often come into use as a prison. The museum contains many important finds from the area and some fine art works.

(Saint John's night) is celebrated every year on June 24th at Parc de la Mar. This is a good excuse for a party, and the park comes to life with dancing, eating, drinking and being merry. The big fireworks display is the night before. No one knows what its all about , let alone cares. This would be a good one to co-incide with your break.
Located in the adjacent resort of El Arenal. Lots to please the kids here with tubes emptying the riders into a big pool and themed areas including Tsunami, The Grand Canyon and the Devils Tale. For smaller children there is the Mini Park, Dragoland and Polynesia. Plenty of green areas for sunseekers to hang out. Take a day for this.

Carrer Sant Joan 1 near the waterfront, this is one of the most atmospheric clubs, certainly in Spain. The decor is quietly undiscribeable and the 19th century courtyard is decorated with caged birds, wicker chairs, fountains, sculpture and romantic candlelight. In keeping with the surroundings, classical music is played. Not a bar, museum or club, but an experience.

Located directly on the beach at Passeig Maritim, this is one of the popular night spots in this lively town. Locals freely mingle with the visitors to dance the night away. The chill out terrace overlooks the sea and is a very romantic spot. State of the art lighting , dance floor and sound makes for a great night. Open every night during the summer.
Carrer Felipe Bauza 2 Located in the heart of town right next to the Cathedral. This popular restaurant serves local specialities at a reasonable price. The food is tasty and well presented, though the place is a bit small and cramped. Mostly locals dine here from the a la carte menu and catch of the day is always fresh and in demand.
Carrer Sant Jaume 3, You couldn't get more central than this great value 2 star hotel. Marquis of Ferrandell once owned this 16th century palace, and it was remodelled in the 18th century. Much of the original interior can still be seen, but the amenities are modern. The 30 rooms are all spacious, well equipped and have en-suite. The perfect hotel for a short stay.

Costa den Blanes is 18 km from town. You can combine this attraction for the kids with a visit to the beach at Palma Nova, which is one of the nicest in the area. Marineland offers a Dolphin and Seal show and there is a small zoo. A cafe, picnic area and Childrens playground will keep the kids amused for a few hours;
