Museo de Salzillo

The museum is located on Plaza San Agustin 3. The monographic museum was established in 1960, paying respect to the famous sculptor and image maker Francisco Salzillo, who was born in Murcia in 1707.

The museum also features many terra-cotta figures which are based on biblical scenes, the largest one being the Nativity Scene, consisting of 500 pieces of artwork.

The municipal museum is open Tue - Sat 9:30am - 13:00pm and 16:00pm - 19:00pm, Sun 11:00am - 13:00pm. Admission costs are $3.7

Museo de Arqueologia

The museum of archeology is located in El Sabio 9 and is one of the best found in Spain. The museum creates a wonderful atmosphere and a great historical journey, which traces back through life in Murcia ranging from the prehistoric times. Some of the exciting items which can be viewed are artifacts such as mosaics, pottery fragments, ceramics and Roman coins.

The museum also features two very important collections, one which is devoted to items from the Hispano-Moorish period, which ranges between the 12th and 14th centuries and the other being Spanish ceramics from the 17th and 18th century.

The museum is open Mon - Fri 9am - 2pm & 5pm - 8pm, Sat 11am - 2pm. Admission cost is $1.3

Hotel Melia 7 Coronas

Located in Paseo de Garay 5, the hotel is situated conveniently close to a cathedral and is very easily accessible from both the Andalusia and the Mediterranean motorways. It is known as one of the finest hotels in the Murcia. The building was structured in 1971 and features 153 rooms with terraces and beautiful arrangements of flowers and plants.

The rooms are equipped with full bathrooms, a direct telephone line, satellite TV, air-conditioning, a minibar, piped music, a safety box, and 24hr room service. The hotel features a lovely restaurant and a bar, as well as offers babysitting, laundry and dry cleaning services.

Cathedral de Santa Maria

The 17th century baroque-style cathedral is located by the Plaza del Cardinal Belluga. They each feature their own entrance and are most definitely worth while to visit. The main entrance to the cathedral is called puerta del perdon and it also features a north facing entrance which is called portada de las cadenas, both of them amazing structures. The portada de los apostoles entrance leads its visitors to the beautiful capilla mayor, which is gorgeously decorated with a large amount of gold. Located inside the cathedral is a museum which contains interesting artifacts.

The museum is open during the opening hours of the cathedral.

Rincon de Pepe

The restaurant is located in Plaza de Apostoles 34 and offers a large range of Spanish and International dishes. It was established in the 1920's and has become one of the best restaurants in town. The menu varies according to season and the specialties tend to change accordingly. Some specialties available include dishes such as pigs trotters and white beans, spring lamb kidneys basted in delicious sherry, white beans served with partridge and duck served in orange sauce. The restaurant also features a large selection of shellfish which includes clams, grilled red prawns and a mouth-watering platter containing assorted grilled seafood and fish.

The restaurant is open daily from 12pm - 4pm & 8pm - midnight. Reservations are recommended and can be made by contacting the restaurant on Tel: 96 821 22 39.


The restaurant is located in Plaza Puxmaria 1and is situated near the cathedral. The restaurant was opened in 1987 and has ever since been known for its delicious Murcian cuisine as well as mouth-watering International dishes. Specialties include dishes such as pate of salmon, hake basted in a tasty sherry sauce, deliciously tender tournedos, eggplant which is cooked with Serrano ham and mushrooms and lemon souffle.

The restaurant is open Mon - Sat 1pm - 4pm & 8:30pm - midnight. Reservations are recommended and can be made by contacting the restaurant on Tel: 96 821 99 55.

Teatro De Romea

Located in the Plaza Julian Romea, it constructed in 1862 by Manuel Molina and was opened by Queen Isabel II. The building was partially destroyed due to havocking fires 1877 and 1899 and was rebuilt by Justo Millan.

The theatre was designed in various different styles and is home to beautiful works of art from famous artists such as Medina Vera, Latorre and Meseguer. The theatre was named after a local actor Julian Romea and is also the name of the square in which it stands.

The Episcopal Palaca

The palace is located in Plaza Cardenal Belluga. The palace was constructed in the 18th century and today is know as an architectural masterpiece. The most significant part of the structure are the stairs, which were built in a classical imperial style. The palace also features a private garden, which is littered with trees and the most beautiful collection of flowers. Another highlight is the throne lounge and the main facade which features a stunning marble sculpture of the Virgen de las Angustias, which was made by Fernando Ortiz.

Hotel Fontaria

The Hesperia Fontaria hotel is located in the center of the commercial and historic site of Murcia. The hotel features 120 rooms and was completely renovated in 1998. The rooms are equipped with full bathrooms, air-conditioning, central heating and colour satellite TV. The hotel also features a floor which is specifically designated for non-smokers.

Facilities offered by the hotel include room service and a laundry and dry cleaning service. There is also parking available for the physically disabled. The hotel is located by San Pedro del Pinatar Regional Park. It is situated only a couple of meters from the beach, offering spectacular views of the ocean. Guests can also visit the center to enjoy rheumatology treatments and various interesting massages. The hotel is also equipped with a swimming pool, a restaurant and a hairsalon.
