Villa Coban (Shepherds Villa) features the famous wooden architecture of the local conservation area of Akyaka, on a hill behind the ruined medieval castle of ancient Idyma. Visitors come back time after time to de-stress, watching the sun go down over the blue sparkling gulf, behind the majestic mountains. As the light slowly fades, watch the storks return to their nests and the sheep walk home with the shepherd in the valley below. The villa is 5 minutes by car from the delightful Akyaka beach and village resort, walkable in less hot months, and only 45 minutes on a good road from Dalaman Airport. Bustling Marmaris is only half an hour away for those who like shops and nightlife. Within an easy day visit is Fethiye, the mud springs at Sultaniye, Lake Koycegiz, a few less visited ancient sites such as Datca and Keremos and one or two evocative deserted villages from the old days. Villa Coban has a modern interior and comfortable accommodation comprising two rooms with double beds, (one room ensuite)and one with a single bed. There is also a well appointed family bathroom upstairs and a small cloakroom downstairs. The lounge is large and airy with balcony and panoramic views - perfect for those lazy breakfasts or sundowners. |

| Situated on the hillside outside the sought-after small resort of Akyaka, 45 minutes from Dalaman Airport, one and half hours from Bodrum Airport, the lively resort of Marmaris is half an hour away by local dolmus or car but an eternity away in spirit! The villa looks over conservation marshes and a rich chequerboard of agricultural land, past the castle towards the sea, with the magnificent backdrop of the Sakartepe range. Along the road into Akyaka from the villa are little fish restaurants where customers can cool their toes off in the river fed by underground springs and streams from the mountains behind. In Akyaka itself are all the local shops and small restaurants offering typical Turkish fayre. At the mouth of the river, moored boats sell fish or kofte in half loaves of bread - fish and chips or kebab and chips Turkish style! This is a wonderful place to explore the more traditional aspects of Turkey, plenty of walking in the cooler months or simply chill either on the beach or the balcony and soak up the sun and the atmosphere.
During the hottest months an air-conditioned hire-car is recommended. Plenty of parking space in Akyaka, and lots to explore off the beaten track. Akyaka is gaining a reputation for the best kiteboarding site in Turkey. |
