Views from the villa, down to the coast and surrounding mountains are absolutely spectacular. It's the perfect location to get away from it all, yet only a short drive away are the pretty, white villages of Competa and Sayalonga where you will find a selction of shops and restaurants and be able to join in with the traditional Spanish lifestyle. The beach is approximately a 20 minute drive. Villa Lolita is an excellent base from which to explore the Andalucian countryside and get a real feel of unspoilt Spain. |

The villages of Competa and Sayalonga are situated in the foothills of the Sierra Almijara. These inland white villages are steeped in Moorish history and culture, the warmth and friendliness of the people still remains an invitation to stay here.
Visitors who pass through the older areas of Sayalonga will be able to experience what it would have been like to be in an Arab village, because with its stillness and brilliant whiteness, it is possible to imagine that not much has changed since that time. The legacy of more than 900 years existence can be seen in the village and many of its buildings.
Both Competa and Sayalonga are a magnificent maze of streets, twisting and winding at different levels, still deliciously rural with a lively Spanish lifestyle. They both have a good selection of restaurants, cafes and bars, as well as several grocers, bakeries and a couple of gift shops. There is a small market each Saturday morning in Competa, several banks with cash machines and a local agent for excursions.
The surrounding countryside is mostly given over to growing grapes, almonds and olives, and is an area renowned for its varied and interesting walks in the National parks. It offers some of the best walking in Europe, with routes for all abilities. Local walking guides can be found in the village.
Horse riding, swimming, hang gliding, go-karting, quad biking and tennis are all available close to the villages. A short drive to the coast takes you to the resorts of Torrox Costa, Nerja and Torre del Mar, offering fine beaches, water sports, markets and many more bars, restaurants and shops, and world class golf courses.
Winter sports are available 2 hours away in the beautiful Sierra Nevada mountains and a visit to the Alhambra in Granada is not to be missed.
Other local places of interest include Nerja caves, the Donkey Sanctuary in Nerja (where visitors are very welcome) and Aquavelis Water Park in Torre del Mar. |
