OVERVIEW

Villa L’Arco is a recently renovated typical Umbrian villa. Standing on the hills of Todi, in the Tiber valley natural park, it lies at the centre of one of Italy’s areas of greatest historical, artistic and cultural interest and outstanding natural beauty.
The villa is surrounded by olive-groves, vineyards and its own woodland with centuries-old oak trees and is a perfect place for those who love privacy.
The villa’s interior is airy and spacious and its beautiful, large windows, with typical arches, let in plenty of sunlight and provide spectacular views of the hills of Todi from every room.
The property has been tastefully yet comfortably furnished with wooden handcrafted furniture and some beautiful paintings. Its wooden floors and pastel-coloured rooms create a warm atmosphere of relaxation and well-being, while air-conditioning throughout the whole house and anatomical latex mattresses (anti-allergenic) will keep you cool even at the height of summer.
The spacious living room with a fireplace and the well-equipped kitchen have large glass doors leading to a vine-covered veranda which offers a shady spot for relaxing with tremendous views of rolling hills and distant villages.
You can enjoy long al fresco meals on the spacious veranda, which overlooks the private swimming pool and the beautifully tended gardens.
Broad lawn full of roses, perfumed by the lavender and rosemary bushes, surrounds the house and leads down towards a paved terracotta terrace with a lovely swimming pool, where loungers beckon to sunbathers and you can even sit with your laptop and send photos of the sun setting behind the hills to your family and friends via the villa’s Wi-Fi connection.

LOCATION & AREA

*** UMBRIA: The Heart of Italy! The Umbria region, called The Green Heart of Italy, due to its central location and equal distance from Rome and Florence,is a beautiful, unspoiled countryside area of rolling, forested hills, vast grassy meadows covered with flowers, large olive grove plantations, several lakes and valleys. The landscape is dotted with many picturesque medieval villages, the people of the area are known for their distinctive cuisine, friendliness and hospitality.Food, wine, entertainment are the core of Umbria's charm.

TODI. 5 miles away from the villa, is the old town of Todi, founded by the Umbrians (some cite the date 2700 BC). Situated in ancient times on the border between the Etruscan and Umbrian territories, not far from Rome and Florence, Todi has been defined as the most livable town on earth, the "ideal town" by research of the University of Kentucky for its size, its climate, its hilltop location and for its harmonious relationship to its surroundings. A striking artistic center in a magnificent position dominating the Tiber valley, celebrated for its Roman and Etruscan remains, for its palaces, its churches and its suggestive medieval environment. Picturesque winding streets, stone buildings, medieval wells, arches, sudden ascents and descents that create various prospective and sudden views of faraway valleys, hills and mountains all contribute to Todi's unique fascination. In the center of town is the long rectangular Piazza del Popolo, considered to be one of the most beautiful squares in Italy, onto which face the Palazzo dei Priori, Palazzo del Popolo and Palazzo del Capitano all originally 13th cent. civic buildings, and the 11th-12th cent. Duomo. The Temple of S.M. della Comsolazione (16th-17th cent), built to a plan by Bramante is one of Italy's finest Renaissance Churches. The newly restored Museo Civico e Pinacoteca houses important pieces ranging from rare Etruscan coins to 16th c. Italian paintings. In Todi you can find many cultural events and exhibitions. The annual Todi Festival hosts avant-garde music, dance and film productions. An antiques fair takes place every spring. Many celebrated artists and artisans of the whole world live and have their studios in Todi. The town is rich in art galleries, craft-shops (ceramic, carving,), antiques dealers and restorers. You can enjoy the world-renown Umbrian cusine in many characteristic restaurants (some of the most famous in Italy) and tipycal food shops: truffles/wines/olive oils.

Guestbook: -I would like you to know that thanks to you and Rosaspina, our summer vacation was truly one of the most enjoyable we have spent. All five of us, with different tastes, found Rosaspina perfect in every way. It was close to everything, so it made all our sightseeing and travels throughout Umbria easy....but we also found Rosaspina far enough away from the towns and cities for us to enjoy the relaxation and peace that rural Umbria can provide. The pool was a wonderful addition to relax before going out and enjoying the wonderful restaurants in the area...not to mention the fabulous meal your daughter prepared for us. We have told many of our friends about Rosaspina(Jeff & Elaine Aschkenes,USA,Aug 2007).

-Amazingly secluded location. Very comfortable villa with all amenities. Superb pool and pool area. Views across wooded hills. The perfect place to relax and recharge. Bruno, the owner and our host, could not have been more welcoming, friendly and helpful. We felt at home within minutes and hated having to leave!(Toby Foggo,UK,Sep 2008).

-Bruno & family, We have had a wonderfull 2 weeks in Rosaspina, the pool was wonderfull ( no horrible chlorine!), peacefull and never have we heard crickets like these! We've had wonderfull meals in the restaurants in Todi end here at house: Monina's cooking for Sarah's birthday made it perfect. Truly a place to recharge the batteries. You have created a very special place Bruno(The Hammond family,Hertfordshire,UK,Aug 2004).

-Thank you for your help during the week. In case you had forgotten you live in a wonderful part of the world. The scenery is stunning, and local towns, particulary Todi, are clean and great to walk around. People have always been friendly. This is my first visit to Italy and everyone told me before I came how wonderful the country/food/wine/people are. They were right on all counts. I've had a fantastic week. Staying in Villa Rosaspina has been a big part of the enjojment. Thanks to you all.(Nicky + Peter,East Kent,UK,Jul 2004).

-Dear Bruno, After months of e-mail, we finally made it here! As you know, this trip was almost a year in its planning - every bit of it was wonderfull! Todi was our favorite of the Umbrian tours and we will never forget our dinners at La Mulinella. Of course, returning to Villa Rosaspina was always wonderful - thank you for providing us with this wonderful retreat. And congratulations on being faithful to the original designs, to the environment ( organic & solar..yes!! ) as well. Thank you for everything - and most of all for your smile & kindness!(Nina, Chas, Susannah, Caroline Camic, USA,May 2004).

-Ciao Bruno Staying in Villa Rosaspina, we have had a great two weeks here exploring all the hill towns in and around Tuscany & Umbria. We both liked Umbria the best. We have enjoyed all the wines and the glorious food of the regions. We would also like to thank Monina for kooking a memorial meal for the eigth of us, her kooking talent is second to none. I shall miss my ryde up to Todi in the morning, for cappuccino & vanilla cake!(Michael Goldberg and Carol Sherman,Cambridge,Ontario,Canada, Oct 2003).
