Villa Trotta is an old two-storey countryside stone house on the slopes of a hill before the sea. It’s surrounded by a 3-hectare land cultivated with olive tree groves. It’s 1.5 km (about 0.9 mile) away from a medieval little town called Perdifumo, and it’s 9 km (about 5.6 miles) away from the sea and the beach.
Outside:There is a garden with fruit trees, a lawn, flowers, and a patio with its lush kiwi pergola. There is a 70-square-meter (about 753.5 square feet) terrace overlooking the valley, the sea, and further away, the Coast of Amalfi and the island of Capri. Pergola and terrace are furnished with tables, chairs, and deck chairs. There is also a portico with a wood-fired oven and barbecue.

While staying at Villa Trotta in Perdifumo you will be able to visit both by land and sea the beautiful coast of the Parco Nazionale del Cilento (National Park of Cilento), which stretches from Agropoli to Palinuro.
In Acciaroli, only about 10 miles away, you will have the tourist port, where you can rent convenient and economical ferries and hydrofoils during summer to Palinuro, Santa Maria di Castellabate, Agropoli, Salerno, Amalfi, Positano, Capri, Sorrento, and Naples.
You can even rent boats for private tours or participate in fishing competitions, following the steps of Hemingway.
Let’s not forget that Acciaroli was the fishermen’s town which inspired Hemingway to write the famous “The Old Man and the Sea”!
Obviously visiting the famous Temples of Paestum, the museum of the place, and the archaeological ruins of Elea is almost an obligation. With a one-day tour you can also visit the archaeological ruins of Pompeii and Herculaneum.
Also unforgettable will be the visit to the Grottos of Pertosa and the Certosa (Chartreuse) of Padula, both easily visited on a day only.
If you enjoy hiking, in the area of the Parco Nazionale (National Park) you will have several trails to be unraveled through the mountains.
A nearby beach is the long golden sand beach of Acciaroli. The water is clean and transparent, and the shallow sandy bottom is perfect even for kids to go for a swim.
If you want you can use the services of the beach establishments of the place, which offer you parking space, umbrellas, and sun loungers. At the beach you will also have bars and restaurants. The climate is mild, and you will be able to go for a swim from late spring to mid autumn.
Don’t miss the chance of enjoying the sunset over the sea from the terrace of Villa Trotta: every evening is a fascinating and different spectacle of nature!
At one mile away from Villa Trotta you will find shops, bars, restaurants |

June 23, 2007 - The Villa Trotta was in a gorgeous location with an amazing view.
It was very spacious and comfortable. We loved all the tables and ate meals at each one.
We really enjoyed our stay and would like to visit again sometime.

May 26, 2007 - Beautiful house, beautiful location.
We spent most of our time on the terrace.
Our kids, 6 and 7, loved exploring the house and garden.

May 5, 2007 - We traveled to Villa Trotta on April 28th for one week. This was our second trip to Villa Trotta. We love the area, the house, the village of Perdifumo, and the people.
The weather did not cooperate this time. The weather was unseasonably cool and rained just about every day, but we did not let that stop us. We had breakfast daily at the Ruota Pastry Shop. Cornetto and cappuccino, what a way to start the day! Molto Buono!!!
The Malone Alimentari, owned by Graziella, a lovely lady, was the place to buy a bottle of local wine, fresh vegetables, fruits, pasta and cheese. We were eating fresh cherry tomatoes from Sicily in April!!! They tasted wonderful.
We made day trips to San Mauro, Acciaroli, Agropoli and Santa Maria. We enjoyed staying in Perdifumo in the evenings. We would ride or walk over to Ruota Pizzeria and feast on some of the best pizza available today.
We found we enjoyed Italy even more the second time around. We learned some Italian and decided that for our next trip we will have completed Level 3 of Italian before we return. I figure I can do this in a year. Then I will need to come back and practise my Italian some more!!!
Grazie! Viva Italia!!!

July 29, 2006 - We loved every minute of our stay at Villa Trotta.
To be honest with you, we were not too sure during the drive from Praiano to Perdifumo if we had made the right choice because the scenery was not colorful as in Praiano. But upon entering Villa Trotta, we all felt right that we had made the right decision!
The bedrooms were perfect, the kitchen and living room were so comfortable, and the views of the mountains from any angle were perfect.
The arbor outside the kitchen was the perfect place to have lunch or play cards as the natural cover of the kiwi trees was unbelievable!
The short stroll into town (about 20-25 minutes) was very relaxing but you definitely need a car to get around beyond Perdifumo. The short drive to Agropoli or Santa Maria di Castellabate (plus the other towns nearby) was an experience to remember with all the curves in the road but we enjoyed it.
The evenings at Villa Trotta were very relaxing and the added touch of the occasional fireworks from nearby towns made it even more special.
We were greeted at Villa Trotta by Franco and Gioconda [the owners] who were very nice and extremely patient with our poor command of the Italian language. I must admit that I never thought my Spanish would come in handy in Italy but Franco and I did well conversing in Spanish.
We truly enjoyed every minute at Villa Trotta and hope to visit again.

-Villagers are very friendly, try to speak a few words in Italian and you will be greeted with a smile and as much help as they can.
-A great experience for anyone wanting to get away from the usual tourist locations - but close enough to get to them when you want to!
