Lunigiana is that beautiful part of Tuscany situated between Liguria and Emilia-Romagna. In the locality of Montereggio (500 meters above sea level), in the greenest and uncontaminated corner, on a hill surrounded by chestnut woods, a stone country house of the beginnings of the 1900 has been restored according to the bioarchitecture standards, using only natural and atoxic materials, and equipments that assure the maximum of health and well-being (solar panels, panel heating, etc.). The result: a residence of ancient tastes, even if very modern, with five rooms (three with independent entrance), three bathrooms, a big kitchen, a spacious living room, a patio and a utility room, for a total of 250 sqmts. All around, 3000 sqmts of green grass, where it is possibile to build a swimming-pool. Private source of high quality water.
The transparent sea of the “Cinque Terre” of Liguria, or the renowed beaches of VersilIa are at no more than 45 minutes by car; in half an hour you are in Equi Terme, for a corroborant bath in the benefical sulphureous waters; for mountain lovers there are, nearby, the Zeri area, with tops well over 1500 metres of height, and tha Apuan Alps, among the favourite destinations of skiers and climbers.
Besides, the territory is plentiful of archeological, cultural, artistic and historical treasures.
And, between a castle of the Malaspina family and a statue-stele museum (the mysterious menhir dating back to the second millennium b.C.), you can make a stop in one of the many restaurants in the area, to savour the tasty local specialities.
The house costs 600000 euros. If you want to try it first, I can let you the cottage for the summer period, and you will decide at the end: if you buy it, you will save the money you've already given for the rent. Otherwise... you'll just spend a wonderful holiday in one of the most beautiful place of Italy! |

Montereggio is a romantic medieval village, very animated in holiday’s periods, quite close to my property: you can reach it by feet in 15 minutes, but of course the best is to have a car for maximum autonomy (you can rent one when you arrive in Pisa’s airport).
In Montereggio there are hotel, restaurant, wine bar, a church and… a bookshop! Yes, because this is the so-called “Town of the Booksellers”, with a long tradition in book’s field and many events connected to it, followed by thousands of book’s lovers coming from all over the world.
It’s a peaceful and very safe place, so that people usually leave their house’s keys on door-jamb and nobody goes in. In the neighbourhood live many artists.
The closest town – with bank, shops, chemist’s and so on – is Mulazzo, at about 5 km. from Montereggio. Nearby there’s a bigger city called Pontremoli (with a full service hospital), where you can catch the railway and reach, in about half an hour, the seaside of the “Cinque Terre” (Liguria), or the Versilia’s Beach (Tuscany). In 30 minutes you can also arrive in Equi Terme, for a corroborant bath in the benefical sulphureous waters; or in the Apuan Alps’s zone, with tops well over 1500 metres of height, among the favourite destinations of skiers, climbers and trekkers. Florence, Pisa, Genova and other beautiful Italian cities are easily reachable, too.
The whole territory is plentiful of archeological, cultural, artistic and historical treasures, for always new routes towards the discovery of an heritage of really breathtaking beauty. |
