The “Antica Posta of Vallelunga” country-house is located in the heart of the Umbrian countryside, at a 15 minutes from Perugia. Surrounded by the hills of this land, the structure lies in Vocabolo Vallelunga of Badiola where the roads to Orvieto, Lake Trasimeno and Città della Pieve converged. Between the 13th and 16th centuries, this merging of roads marked the old via Orvietana which linked Perugia to Orvieto, Lake Bolsena and the Francigena way.
This junction was also characterized by the presence of an edifice, the country-house in question, where Benedictine monks gave shelter to wayfarers, merchants, pilgrims and their horses.
Now transformed by its owners into a country-house marked by elegant furnishings and attention to detail, the Antica Posta offers 7 apartments, all very recently restructured. The facility, situated in the heart of Umbria, is very close to cities like Assisi, only 25 minutes away by car, and to all of the more important Tuscan and Umbrian cities of art including Todi, Spoleto, Spello, Gubbio, Città di Castello, Arezzo, Siena, Cortona, and Città della Pieve. Rome is an hour and a half away by train from Perugia’s Fontivegge station, as is Florence. There are 2 golf courses near the country-house: the golf club of S. Sabina, 6 kilometers away, and the Golf club Lamborghini, at 20 kilometers. A supermarket, bakery and newsagent are only a few minutes away by car.
All the apartments have linen for the bedrooms, pillows, blankets and linen for the bathroom. In all the kitchens there are plates, glasses, cutlery, pots, pans and all the necessary in order to pass the vacations without problems.
The owners have sought to re-create a family atmosphere in all seven of the country-house apartments, in order to satisfy those guests who wish to enjoy both the quiet of country life and the refinement of an exclusive facility.
THE STRUCTURE
What characterizes the Antica Posta of Vallelunga, besides nature and the green that colors the entire valley, is without doubt the elegance of its furnishings, the refinement and taste for the antique which the owners have put into the restoration of the country-house and its furnishing.
Each apartment is completely independent, and the kitchens are equipped with electric ovens, refrigerators, dishwashers (the kitchen of grapes apartment has electric oven and fridge), and all that a family might need. Some of the apartments also offer the use of a fireplace.
The structure, surrounded by the green of the countryside, boasts a private garden of one hectare, two large parking lots and a 16 x 18-6-meters swimming pool.
The owners have preserved various original features of the apartments such as arches, wooden beams, old stones, the fireplaces and all else that confers on the structure an aura of the past, an effort that can be noted both inside and outside the complex, where harmony has also been preserved between the surrounding vegetation and the elegant exterior structure.
It is possible to rent the entire complex, which with its 10 double rooms, 2 single rooms and 9 bathrooms can host up to 22 people, or 24 with the use of two sofa-beds.
THE APARTMENTS
The 7 apartments are distributed between 2 outbuildings and the main Villa.
The main complex is composed on the ground floor of a CASA GRANDE of 247 square meters (6 pax) with a 50 sq m. porch, and on the first floor of 3 apartments: the CASTAGNO (2 pax), with a private terrace, the MELOGRANO (3+1 pax) and the UVA (2 pax).
The CASA GRANDE presents an elegant entranceway, a large kitchen with all of the modern conveniences as well as a fireplace and a 70 sq m living room with a fireplace, study and dining room. The sleeping area is instead made up of three large rooms: a double bedroom and two twin bedrooms, one of which can be used as a double bedroom, a bathroom with shower and bathtub, and another bathroom with shower.
The casa grande has also a porch big more than 50sqm. where the people can eat all together.
In the CASTAGNO we enter a large warm living room with a sofa bed and a kitchenette equipped with electric oven, refrigerator and dishwasher. The sleeping area includes a bathroom with shower, a large double bedroom and a private terrace that looks onto the garden.
The MELOGRANO, the largest of the three apartments on the first floor, is composed of a living room with kitchen equipped with electric oven, dishwasher and refrigerator, and a large loft where one can relax with a book or watch television. In the sleeping area we find a single bedroom, a large double bedroom and a bathroom with shower.
The last apartment in the main unit, the UVA, is composed of a living room, a kitchen with an electric oven and refrigerator, a double room with a small loft and a bathroom with shower.
The first floor of the main complex offers a common hall featuring a large fireplace, original of the ancient structure, where guests can linger to read or talk together, or enjoy the sun on the terrace accessed from this room.
The first outbuilding is the GIRASOLE (4 pax), a structure that can also meet the needs of disabled people, made up of two large rooms, a twin and double, two bathrooms (of which one for the disabled), a large living room with fireplace, and a kitchen area equipped with electric oven, refrigerator and dishwasher.
The second outbuilding is comprised of two apartments: the MELO (3 pax) and the FIOR DI PESCO (2 pax). Both the apartments, which can be linked, have a trellis terrace.
The first apartment, the MELO, is composed of a large living room with fireplace and kitchen (complete with refrigerator, electric oven and dishwasher), and by the sleeping area, made up of a bathroom with shower, a small bedroom and a double bedroom.
The final apartment, the FIOR DI PESCO, offers a living room with cooking area, this too equipped with electric oven, refrigerator and dishwasher, a bathroom with shower and a double bedroom.

From the north – (A1 Autostrada del sole motorway), exit at Valdichiana (Bettolle) and follow the signs for Perugia. Exit at Perugia-Madonna Alta and turn left in the direction of San Sisto. After 200 meters go past the first roundabout, in the direction of Pila. After 1 kilometer, go past the 2nd roundabout, once again towards Pila. Go straight on for another 500 meters until reaching the 3rd roundabout, take the road to the right and continue towards Pila. At this point go straight on through the first and second traffic lights, going straight towards Spina. After 3 kilometers is the 4th roundabout, which should be passed, heading straight on for Spina-S.Biagio della Valle. After about 1 kilometer there is a street sign showing 8 kilometers; 200 meters further on is the entrance to Antica Posta of Vallelunga.
From the south – Take the A1 motorway and exit at Orte, then take the right-hand road for Terni. After 20 kilometers get on freeway E45 for Perugia-Cesena. Nearing Perugia, go past the Balanzano exit, then take the Perugia-Firenze link road. Exit at Perugia-Madonna Alta immediately after the fourth tunnel, and turn left towards San Sisto. After about 200 meters go past the first roundabout and continue towards Pila. After about 1 kilometers, go past the 2nd roundabout, once again in the direction of Pila. Go straight on for another 500 meters until reaching the 3rd roundabout, take the road to the right and continue towards Pila. At this point go straight on through the first and second traffic lights, going straight towards Spina.
