| If you are lucky enough to approach Rhodes harbour by boat you will be able to enjoy the unique sight of a medieval town slowly appearing out of the sea, an ancient yet modern city which has earned every right to be a Unesco Protected World Heritage site.
Protective stone walls surround the old town, once erected by the Byzantines and later reinforced by the Knights of St.John to keep out enemies, they now welcome visitors from around the world.
The old town is the only inhabited Medieval Town in Europe and getting lost in its maze of streets and back alleys will take you back centuries, with a blend of western and oriental architecture accompanying your every step.
Inhabited already in the 5th century B.C. Rhodes many occupants( Byzantines, Ottomans, Knights of St. John,) have left traces for you to discover. Visit the Grandmaster’s Palace, the Knights’Museum, walk up Knights Street and discover the magic at your own pace.
