A house surrounded by the beautiful Cretan country side
Villa Selena is setting up in about 480m., on the site of Vigla. It is about 1.500m. far from the village Choudetsi,
5.000m. far from Archanes, 17 kilometers far from the port and the airport and 15 kilometers far from the General
Hospital in Heraklio.
The place is not only absolutely ideal for the echotourisism and outdoor activities but also for family holidays.
It is located between two mountains, Lasithiotika Mounts in the east and Psiloritis in the west and has a lovely
view over town of Heraklio.
The Villa is surrounded by crops of vineyards with naming origin.
Nearby the Villa are found archeological places (Knossos, Archanes,Vathipetro and Giouchtas), monasteries
(Agarathos, Spiliotissa and St. George Epanosifis) and Byzantine castles.
It is close to traditional settlements (Archanes) and settlements with traditional architecture, such as Archanes,
restaurants and museums of Secular Art. It is also near to the Centre of Mediterranean Music in Choudetsi, near
to processing units of agricultural products and near to some of the essential wine-producing units in Crete.
The guest during his stay has the chance to enjoy activities and services by getting in contact with the couriers
in order to form the appropriate program. The couriers are experts in all the types of activities, for example
climbing, walking tours, cycling, camping, speleology and others.
It is also conceivable for the guests to participate in supplementary-agricultural activities inside and outside the
building plot, for example gardening, grape-harvest, wine-production, oil-production, oil-harvest, tsikoudiaproduction
(traditional drink), visits in places of traditional handicraft activities and farms and others, and are also
taught how to deal with the Cretan cuisine.
In the guests' house traditional breakfast is served, while the midday meal or the supper will be ordered to the
cook of the Cottage.The ingredients, which are used for the preparation, come from the Cottage's garden or from
local companies and associations.The guest (if he wishes) has the chance to participate in the preparation, guests
have the chance to familiarize with the Cretan cuisine.
The substructures of the guests' house, its facilities, the equipment and the stuff above all, offer high quality
services to the guests, who will enjoy their holidays in a peaceful, picturesque and traditional environment, which
combines the modern comforts of a holiday resort with the simplicity, the warmth and the family character of
Cretan hospitality.
On the construction, we focused on the minimization of any negative consequences that might affect the
environment.We only used renewable sources of energy such as wind and solar power and natural gas in order to
cover the power needs of the Cottage and an under the floor heating system.
