The quaint hamlet of Aspro (which means “white” in Greek) is located 1.7km inland from the seaside resort of Almyrida. On the outskirts of the hamlet, Sophia’s House looks out from its hillside position across a valley of olive groves to stunning views of Souda Bay, Karga Island, the Akrotiri Peninsula, and the Turkish Fort at Aptera. Sophia’s House has the quiet corner plot at the end of a small group of houses, and borders acres of land covered in mature pine and olive trees. The land drops away below the villa which allows for an exceptional setting for the entire property but especially for the gorgeous infinity pool and semi-covered front terrace. |

In the large double aspect living area you will find a beautiful corner seating unit, coffee table, TV with DVD, CD HIFI with MP3 player socket, patio doors lead straight out onto your own private pool terrace.The living area is fully air conditioned (no extra charge for this).
In the fully equipped kitchen you will find fridge/freezer, electric oven with ceramic hob, dishwasher, washing machine plus the usual small electrical appliances that you would expect in a quality rental property such as coffee maker, toaster, kettle, microwave, steam iron and board. There is a marble topped dining table with 6 chairs.
Bedroom 1 double bed with 2 matching bedside cabinets, dressing table, stool and mirror , wardrobe offering both hanging and draw space, air conditioning. Patio doors leading to the covered outside terrace and then to the pool area. The views from this bedroom are to Souda bay and you can watch the ferry boats plying the water from the comfort of your bed.
Bedroom 2 Twin beds with bedside unit wardrobes with both hanging and draw space, dressing table, stool and mirror. This bedroom is also air-conditioned. The patio doors lead to the outside covered terrace and pool area.
Bedroom 3 Twin beds and a bedside unit, dressing table stool and mirror. Wardrobe with hanging and draw space. Air-conditioning. A Patio door leads to side of the property.
Outside There is a large covered terrace with traditional Cretan blue table and chairs, this covered terrace leads to the open terrace where you will find the infinity style swimming pool- private for your own use.
To the side of the swimming pool there is a further terrace with pergola (for shade) and a gravelled garden area, with car space. The pool terrace is completely private and is not overlooked.
There is an outside staircase which leads to the upper sun terrace area which has the most outstanding views across the valley below to Almirida, Souda Bay and the ancient, deserted, village of Agios Vassillis. The upper terrace is fully tiled.Sheetd and towels changed once a week |

our favourite beach was kyani akti
(up the hill towards Kalami and right at the flags)
park behind the taverna. buy a drink and a sandwich and the parasols
are free!
visits to Chania and Rethimnon a must, but we went early to avoid the heat later in the day.

we celebrated our silver wedding in Vamos 02
and were back in Douliana 05
our favourite eateries are taverna "Ta Douliana" in Douliana
Taverna "Apospoitis" in Gavalohori
and of course Bloumosit's Cafeteria in Vamos
Kalives is particularly quaint. Loutraki beach on Akrotiri penninsular
is wonderful,
Ellafonissi beach has to be the jewel in the crown!

Almirida beach was great for snorkelling on left and
safe for swimming on right with huge waves when the wind got up.
Polis also good snorkelling. small cove the other side of Plaka
fantastic, remote,great fish, sandy butno ameinities
Rethymnon great shopping not just tourist things
avoid taverna's on quayside as they are twice the price
Chania great but hot,
saturday fruit & veg market a must, behind best western hotel at top point
of Chania 8-noon
a visit to the re-cycled glass factory just past Plaka a must hand luggage items only!
our last day today and the clouds have arrived to see us off, must
be time to go home.
p.s. floors in villa get very slippery when wet.

this beautiful villa has superb views, every morning the mountains look different
the locals of Almirida are lovely people and very welcoming.
Rethymno is a great night out, down "Greek alley" and excellent
for shopping for pressies!
food is fabulous, full of flavour, try the fried mushrooms.
the flat roof above the villa is great for catching the sun and the pool is good for cooling off,
but don't do a bomb, take my word for it!
definitely the place to come for a relaxing and fun packed holiday with the girls,
absolutely amazing,
definitely be returning
