The house is set in an extremely quiet road on the edge of Montesquieu des Alberes a very peaceful village in the foothills of the Pyrenees. It gives us and our guests a haven from the hustle and bustle of life in England. We've made it a home from home so, as many guests tell us "there is everything you need". See our website on

The Garden
Step out of the kitchen or dining room onto a lalrge south facing terrace at the end of which is a stone barbeque and table for preparation of food.
The heated pool is 8x4 m. (1.6m deep) and is surrounded by a large patio area giving plenty of room to laze on the sun loungers with a cold glass of wine. A pergola shaded raised area at one end provides a cool spot for that long, leisurely lunch.
Pool has salt water rather than chlorine cleaning system. So the well know skin irritations due to chlorine simply do not occur - no unpleasant chlorine smell either. If you happen to swallow any it's just like Badoit or San Pellegrino.
The area around the house is ideal for walking and, if you're fit, mountain biking.
The GR 10 walking route from Atlantic to Mediterranean passes along the ridge above Montesquieu. There are lots of lovely colourful local markets. Our favourites are in Ceret and Collioure. Ceret also has a fantastic modern art museum. Although there are no restaurants in the village there are many wonderful restaurants in the surrounding villages - from simple everyday fare to Michelin starred excellence. Carcassonne and the Cathar castles make a great day trip. Or explore the Pyrenees via the Little Yellow Train. The Costa Brava and cities of northern Spain, Girona, Barcelona, provide a totally different 1 or 2 day experience. Easiest way to see Barcelona is to drive to Figueras and take the train. Very reasonably priced and relaxing. |

| Welcome Pack: We do not generally provide a welcome pack but it may be possible to provide essentials if you are coming in on a late flight. |
| Guestbook: "The villa really is a home from home - if only the views from our back door were so good. For anyone wanting to burn off calories from the local cuisine there is some very good walking from the villa up into the local hills" The Browns, Wales, "A brilliant time yet again! Thank you for letting us stay in your wonderful home again" Mr and Mrs M, Staffordshire, "We have had a lovely time at your villa. It's so near lots of lovely places. It was so relaxing just walking along the side of the mountains and views were out of this world. Have been visiting France for a number of years and so far this is the best" Keith and Margaret C. |
