Shellman Bluff, The Osprey Nest is in the private community of Pleasure Bluff located on the Julienton River. Shellman Bluff is a quaint fishing village just behind the barrier islands on the unspoiled coast of Georgia. The Private Dock at Serenity Place is 55 feet long and has 17 feet of water at low tide. Water and power hook ups are available. Bring your boat, kayak, or canoe or arrange for local tours, guides and charter fishing trips to Blackbeard nd St. Catherine's Islands. Grey's Reef is just offshore in The Atlantic Ocean.
The Osprey Nest is a mobile home located on a private landscaped lot (75' x 100') and is surrounded by live oak trees and flowering shrubs.
Both bedrooms have plush Egyptian cotton sheets and the bathrooms have fluffy cotton towels. The master bedroom has a deluxe queen bed with 1000 thread count linens, 3 TVs with Darien Cable 199 channels & music, HDTV color TV, good reading lamps, and a day bed. The master bath has a garden tub.
The Pleasure Bluff community was started in the 1920's by families who loved to come to the salt water rivers on the coast of Georgia to fish. The cottages, cabins, and mobile homes in the community are all privately owned. There are only 2 owners that live here full time. The other owners use their places infrequently. The dirt and gravel roads are private. Peace and serenity abound. The Osprey Nest is a perfect place for a break from noise, traffic, and crowds.

During the past twenty or so years, my job has taken me to every corner of America and to many foreign countries. Being on the road for so long has taught me what to look for when I travel. Lin Rogers' retreat at Serenity Place is at the very top of my list of great places to stay.
Pleasure Bluff is located on a quiet and remote part of the Georgia coast; it is America as seen by Norman Rockwell, a quiet and idyllic little fishing village that has remained largely unchanged over the years. The view is across a great expanse of salt marsh and across Sapelo Sound to the Atlantic. The only noise is from seabirds feeding near the dock. The only hustle and bustle is from Lin Rogers doing everything possible to make sure her guests enjoy their visit. Her place has more than the expected conveniences; it has a warm and quiet elegance that is the essence of true hospitality.
Travel is about people as much as it is about places. And Lin Rogers and the people of Pleasure Bluff and nearby Shellman Bluff are among the best people I've ever met.
No matter where I travel today, this part of the Georgia coast remains always in my mind. And I count the days until I can return. Robert Coram |
