History: Originally built in 1867, the "Weaver" building as it's known in the county, was completely remodeled over a four year period starting in 2001. The section of the building on Main St. that originally housed a dry goods store is now the home of Yuba Expeditions, the local mountain bike shop that caters to mountain bikers from around the country (and the world) that come to Sierra County to attempt the 4,000 ft decent of the Downieville Downhill.
The third story, originally storage for the store, was turned into a loft complete with a hand made furniture and trim.
The back of the building on the riverside was converted into a large dining room/ kitchen area. The loft has two gas fireplaces and room for 8 (11 if you use the trundle beds hidden in the wall). The downstairs basement has bike storage as a lounge with a pool table.
The back of the building is where the mountain bikers meet to catch the shuttle for the Downieville Downhill and the rafters put in to attempt the Maytag rapid of the North Yuba River. |
