Guestbook: letter from Peter Harrison, Manchester.
Dear Andrew
I have just got back from a business trip to the U.S. so have not been able to drop you a line any sooner but I just wanted to say that we had an absolutely fantastic time at The Coves. On leaving, our little boy Alasdair, said "I love Change Islands" a sentiment with which we all
agree. Apart from one and a half days of high-speed horizontal wind-driven rain (which was clearly provided to show what we were missing) we had very clement weather (even into the mid-twenties at times!)so we had a great time picnicking, doing the trails, feeding the
ponies, consulting with timetables to work-out how to visit Fogo Island. We visited Fogo (and Twillingate) and on the last day when Alasdair got to work the horn on the ferry! We found the people of Change Islands and Fogo (and all over NL) very friendly and welcoming. It was great investigating a small area of Newfoundland - our last trip involved driving from St.John's to St. Anthony and back so we saw a lot of the lovely Trans Canada Highway but not as much of the real character of NL. We also loved the house which was equipped and decorated just to our taste (no TV, no chintz and a radio tuned to CBC Radio 2!). The stove was very welcome for a chilly evening as was the inexhaustible supply of logs brought over by Edward Diamond. |
