The house is located in a quiet residential area in Gran Alacant. Car hire can be booked from alicante airport at very reasonable rates. There is also a reliable taxi service. The south facing front garden leads to an elevated porch with table and chairs. The ground floor has a good sized lounge dining room with air conditioning, a fully equipped independent kitchen utility area, and a shower room with washbasin and WC.
An attractive marble staircase leads to the first floor where there is a family bathroom, twin bedded room, and a double bedroom, which has a patio door leading to the upstairs sun terrace.
The community pool is a minutes walk away. Gran Alacant is 15 minutes drive south of Alicante off the main N332 road. The house is just ten minutes from the airport, and a few minutes drive from the beaches. There is a new modern shopping complex 200 metres away.
Santa Pola is just ten minutes south on the main road. There are regular bus services to Alicante, Santa Pola and to the beach. The wide sandy beaches are backed by dunes planted with small pine trees, leading to a nature reserve. The coastline between here and Santa Pola is very unspoiled and natural. Popular local pastimes include
hang gliding from the cliffs and sea fishing.
Santa Pola is an important fishing port and holiday resort. There are miles of sandy beaches, with bars, shops and restaurants. There is also a boating marina, and regular boat trips to the island of Tabarca, which has a marine nature reserve. On the southern side of the town there are salt lakes, which are home to flamingoes and many other wild birds. In the town itself there is a sixteenth century castle fortress, museums and an aquarium. A large market is held every Saturday and Monday morning.
The local tourist attractions include a Safari Park near Santa Pola, the Terra
Mitica theme park and Aqualand near Benidorm, which is less than an hours
drive north on the A7 motorway. Guardamar and Torrevieja are within easy reach
on the N332 south. There are many interesting inland towns and villages in the mountains to explore. There are top class golf courses around the nearby city of Alicante. |
