Itinerary
Day 1
LIMA-HOME
Breakfast in the hotel.
Please be at the airport 3 hours before your international departure.
Day 2
LIMA - AUNTHENTIC PUNO
Breakfast in the hotel.
We will pick you up at 09:00 am to bring you up to the airport.
Departure by Lan Peru flight 111 at 11:30am. This flight will arrive at 14:05 to Juliaca. Transfer by your own. The trip to Puno is just 45 minutes.
Free evening to acclimatize and stroll around the city and buy some Puno handicraft. We recomend to buy the Pucara bulls for good luck. We recommend to drink the typical coca tea. This will help to avoid the altitude sickness.
Overnight at Sol Plaza Hotel.
Day 3
PUNO - REAL ETHNICAL LIFE OF UROS AND TAQUILE ISLANDS
Breakfast in the hotel.
This day you will visit the unbelievable Uros islands. These islands will show you a different way of life. The guide will show you how they live and their unique customs.
After a trip across the Titicaca Lake, you will arrive to the Taquile Island, where you will feel the peaceful enviroment and learn how the people organize the island and how they make their own typical clothes which have a special meaning for them.
Typical lunch included.
Return to Puno and transfer to your hotel.

Day 4
PUNO
Breakfast at the hotel.
Day at leisure to appreciate more the city of Puno. We recommend to visit the several handicrafts store at Lima street, where you can find the little Pucara bulls for the luck and happiness,

Day 5
PUNO - NAVEL OF THE WORLD: CUSCO
Breakfast in the hotel.
Departure by Inka Express bus at 07:30 to take your trip to Cusco. Transfer by your own to the bus station. Please be there 30 minutes before. This trip includes stops at several historical sites like: Pukará, Raqchi and Andahuaylillas. Lunch and entrances fees included.
About 17:30 hrs, the bus will arrive to Cusco. (Transfer by your own).
Rest of the evening at leisure,

Day 6
CUSCO - SPECIAL CITY TOUR AND PRINCIPAL HISTORICAL SITES
Breakfast in the hotel.
Between 13:30 and 13:50 the bus will pick you up to take your city tour. First you will visit Koricancha or Temple Sun, which was the principal temple at the Inca time. Then you will appreciate the beautiful Cathedral and finally the historical sites of Sacsayhuaman, Q´enko, Puca Pucara and Tambomachay.

Day 7
CUSCO / LITTLE TOWNS & THE SACRED VALLEY
Between 8:20 and 8:45 am the bus will pick you up from your hotel. This wonderful tour will keep you to typical villages and a wonderful sightseeing. Your first stop will be to the important village called Pisaq, which has the principal handicraft market in Cusco. You will have the chance to buy souvenirs and handicrafts or visit a typical oven where you can buy the delicious âempanaditasâ, recently prepared.
Then you will have your buffet lunch in a typical restaurant. In the way you will appreciate the infinite mountains, and typical houses.
After lunch, you will have the chance to rest at the bus, because the next stop will be Ollantaytambo. This village is important because you will find many original inca streets, and until these days, people still live.
Then visit to the Ollantaytambo historical site, which was an important fortress at the Inca time. Return to your hotel.

Day 8
CUSCO - AGUAS CALIENTES & THE AMAZING MACHU PICCHU
Breakfast in the hotel.
At 5.30 am, pick up from your hotel in Cusco and transfer to the train station of San Pedro to take your Vistadome train to Aguas Calientes.
After approximately four hours, you will arrive to Aguas Calientes town.
Free evening to stroll around the town of Aguas Calientes.

Day 9
AGUAS CALIENTES - CUSCO
Breakfast in the hotel.
Your tour to Machu Picchu will start today. Your will take a bus that will bring you to the amazing historical site of Machu Picchu. This trip is just 30 minutes.
Your guide will show you the different Inca´s constructions with the wonderful nature that involved this majestic historical site.
After your tour, you will have your lunch at the Sanctuary Lodge Hotel.
The buses go down to Aguas Calientes each 10 minutes.
Please remember to be at the train station 30 minutes before the hour that shows in your train ticket.
Transfer to your hotel from Poroy station. This station is located 30 minutes from Cusco, by car and one hour by train.

Day 10
CUSCO

Day at leisure. We recommend to visit the several museums that your tourist ticket offers you. Also this ticket gives you the chance to go to a folkloric show at the Centro Qosqo.

Day 11
Monday- CUSCO â PUERTO MALDONADO
Breakfast in the hotel. Please be at the airport two hours before your flight to Puerto Maldonado. Departure by Lan Peru flight 073 at 10:15 and arrives at 11:10.
Arrival & Reception by Guide. Our guides are biologists, tourism professionals, or community members. Unless noted otherwise, our guides speak English. We assign guides at 6:1 ratio in Tambopata Research Center. This means groups smaller than 6 people will be merged with other groups under one guide. If you would like a private guide or a guide in a language other than English please let us know.
Transfer Airport to Puerto Maldonado Headquarters. Upon arrival from Lima or Cusco, we will welcome you at the airport and drive you ten minutes to our Puerto Maldonado headquarters. While enjoying your first taste of the forest in our gardens we will ask you to pack only the necessary gear for your next few days, and leave the rest at our safe deposit. This helps us keep the boats and cargo light.
Tambopata River Port to Refugio Amazonas. The two and a half hour boat ride from the Tambopata Port to Refugio Amazonas will take us past the Community of Infierno and the Tambopata National Reserve´s checkpoint and into the buffer zone of this 1.3 million hectare conservation unit.
Boxed Lunch.
Orientation. Upon arrival, the lodge manager will welcome you and brief you with important navigation and security tips.
Dinner.
Caiman searches. We will be out at the river's edge at night, scanning the shores with headlamps and flashlights to catch the red gleams of reflection from caiman eyes.

Day 12
PUERTO MALDONADO
Canopy tower: A thirty minute walk from Refugio Amazonas leads to the 25 meter scaffolding canopy tower. A banister staircase running through the middle provides safe access to the platforms above. The tower has been built upon high ground, therefore increasing your horizon of the continuous primary forest extending out towards the Tambopata National Reserve. From here views of mixed species canopy flocks as well as toucans, macaws and raptors are likely.
Breakfast.
Brazil nut trail and camp: A few minutes hike from the lodge is a beautiful old growth patch of Brazil Nut forest that has been harvested for decades (if not centuries) where the precarious remains of a camp used two months a year by Brazil Nut gatherers can still be experienced. We will be demonstrating the whole process of the rain forest's only sustainably harvested product from collection through transportation to drying.
Refugio Amazonas to Tambopata Research Center. Four and half hours by boat from Refugio Amazonas, in the pristine heart of the reserve, lies the Tambopata Research Center. One and half hours into our boat journey, as we cross the confluence with the Malinowski River, we will leave the final traces of human habitation behind. Within the 700,000 hectare uninhabited nucleus of the reserve, sightings of capybara, caiman, geese, macaws and other large species will become more frequent. Boxed Lunch.
Orientation. Upon arrival, the lodge manager will welcome you and brief you with important navigation and security tips.
Overlook Trail: A three to five kilometer hike will lead us to overlooks commanding magnificent views of the Tambopata winding its way into the lowlands. The forest on this trail, regenerating on old bamboo forest, is good for Howler Monkey and Dusky Titi Monkey.Dinner.
Macaw Project Lectures: After dinner scientists will provide an in depth look at the biology of macaws, their feeding habits, the theories for clay lick use, their breeding and feeding ecology, population fluctuations and the threats to their conservation.

Day 13

PUERTO MALDONADO
Breakfast.
Tambopata Research Center to Refugio Amazonas. A three and a half hour boat ride brings us to Refugio Amazonas. Boxed Lunch.
Condenado Oxbow Lake - CONDEL: A forty minute hike takes you Condenado Lake. You paddle canoes around the lake looking for lakeside wildlife such as hoatzin and caiman, hoping to see the otters which are infrequently seen here. You will also be rewarded with overhead sightings of macaws. Dinner.
Tambopata National Reserve Lecture. Nightly lectures prepared by the staff of Refugio Amazonas cover conservation threats, opportunities and projects in the Tambopata National Reserve.
