* Pick up at 9:00 am. Begin with a special guided tour of the must see places and neighborhoods in the outskirts of the city of Buenos Aires. The tour guide will give you a comprehensive list of best secret places to eat based on your personal interests. There are many options of great places to eat in Buenos Aires, and our tour guide will be able to better guide you once knowing more in detail what type of cuisine you are interested the most (northern Argentine or southern Argentine, Contemporary, European flair, etc.). Duration 1 hour.
* Arrival to the town of Adrogue, where Cooking With Teresita is located. Visit the local gourmet bakery where we will gather the bread that accompanies the Barbecue. See the different national pastries called facturas, and learn about traditional breads. Duration 15- 30 minutes.
* Next, stop at the local butcher's shop for a comprehensive lesson on how to select the right meat based on color, size, fat density and freshness. You will get to see achuras (cuts of meat) you have never seen before! Duration 15- 30 minutes.
* Arrival at Cooking with Teresita and begin a hands-on cooking class of empanadas Argentinas. (*Please see below for a detailed description of the class). After the lesson is completed, sit to enjoy what was created at the garden table in which nothing complements an Empanadas feast better than a glass of Argentine wine or two, or three. Be ready to try a selection of the famous exquisite Argentine wines; Torrontés is Argentina's best white variety creating a fresh, fruity and elegant white wine and Malbec steals the show with its deep, ripe, juicy flavors ideal for red meat and chocolate dishes, and embarked on a love affair for Argentine wines that will last a lifetime. For dessert, Flan (Latin caramel custard) with dulce de leche will be served. Duration 3-4 hours (Departure from Cooking with Teresita at approx. 2 pm)
* Arrival to the Mercado del Progresso and begin exploring this unique food market together with you guide tour. This one of a kind market in Buenos Aires dates back 130 years. This is where much of the local shopping is done for fresh produce; all varieties of red meat, fresh fish, rabbit, chicken. Not a fancy market but a place where quality national artesanal products are displayed. Frequented by the locals and long term visitors who go in search of fine cheeses, exotic coffees, fresh fruits, vegetables and meats (the range of fresh seasonal produce available is absolutely amazing). Prices are slight lower than other delicatessen shops around Buenos Aires where wine is sold in barrels and spices by the kilo. Spread out over a block square, the mercado has its unique charm and is a must visit place for those who are interested in Argentine food. Probably the best way to experience the market is to simply meander around exploring the goods on offer. As the tour guide will be with you, any questions, translations will be taken care. Arrival to the mercado 4 pm. Arrival back to the hotel approx. 5:30 pm.
