This 2-days tour will present you some of the cultural treasures of Romania: Peles castle, Bran castle, Brasov, Prejmer and Harman fortified Teutonic churches.
Itinerary
Day 1
The tour takes you first to Sinaia, to the summer residence of the Romanian Royal Family, the Peles Castle. The castle is considered one of the most impressive in Europe. Though not very big, the visitor is always impressed by the rich decorations of the rooms.
Visit the castle built by Carol I of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen and find out more about the Royal Family. Further visit Sinaia's oldest building, the Sinaia Monastery, erected at the end of the 17th century by monks coming from Mount Sinai.
After an optional lunch in Sinaia, you arrive in the city of Brasov. Check into your centrally located hotel and discover the great atmosphere of the pedestrian area in the Old Town. A visit at the Black Church will be for sure one of the highlights of today's tour. It is the biggest gothic cathedral between Vienna and Istanbul. Inside you will see also the largest collection of Anatolian carpets outside Turkey. Many are more than 200 years old and were donated to the church by the Saxon merchants coming safely home from their business trips to Central Asia. Continue to the Schei quarter, the old Romanian quarter of the city. Here you will visit the first Romanian school and the old St.Nicolae church. The rest of the afternoon is at leisure.
Day 2
After breakfast, drive to Prejmer, a settlement founded by the Teutonic knights in the 13th century. The church here has some of the strongest fortifications in Transylvania. In case of an attack the whole village moved inside the fortifications. Visit the church and the former storage rooms. Drive then in the nearby village of Harman to visit the second Teutonic site in the area. Here you will meet also one of the few Saxons still living in the village.
After Prejmer and Harman you will drive to Bran, where on a 60m height rock the Bran castle lies. It was built at the end of the 14th century by the merchants of Brasov to guard the border between Walachia, the Southern Romanian state and Transylvania. For centuries it served also as a custom point. The area around Bran served for the filming of the movie âCold Mountainâ.
Your guide will show you the castle and you will have also some free time for having a look at Dracula souvenirs.
In the late afternoon, your guide will drive you to your hotel in Bucharest.

Important Notice : Avoiding Fraud
It's rare, but some helpful hints to watch out for with regards to fraud:
- It is important to NEVER wire funds or use/employ other fund transfer mechanisms such as western union: Always use a credit card to protect yourself against fraud. If owners pressure you into providing a deposit or refuse to accept credit cards, there is a high probability that this is a scam.
- If at all suspicious of fraud, ask to see their website, or any other literature they can provide or send to you. Ask them for contact details for guests who have previously stayed on their property insisting on telephone numbers. Be suspicious of emails that originate from free email services (yahoo, hotmail, gmail, etc)
- Research the property thoroughly on the internet to see if there is any history or mention of scams associated with the property.
