Day 1 - Highlights:
*Medieval holiday and festivals - Sighisoara, the best preserved and still inhabited medieval citadel in Europe
*Shepherds Meeting on Mount Jina - a live insight on Transylvania’s traditions and customs.
*The most famous Romanian Castles - always a good reason to travel to Transylvania - Peles Castle the most beautiful royal residences in Europe and Bran Castle - the place where Vlad the Impaller, also known as Dracula, was arrested and imprisoned.
*Biertan - architectural jewellery, famous for its Fortified Church, you’ll find here the finest selection of handicraft in Romania.
*Sibiu - chosen as the European Cultural capital of 2007, former Saxons capital in Transylvania, and its renown Village Museum.
*Bears Cave - got its name from the skeletons of some very old species of bear (Ursus Spelaeus) that were found here.

MEDIEVAL FESTIVAL IN SIGHISOARA
You will discover today that an old medieval citadel is the ideal place for a festival! From Brasov we drive across the beautiful Saxon area with exquisite houses and fortified churches and arrive in Sighisoara, the most beautiful, best preserved and still inhabited Citadel in Europe. The medieval festival in Sighisoara is one of the largest in Romania, with more than 20 000 attendants. Stages are set in every plaza of the citadel.
There are theatre shows, concerts on all stages. Amateurs set their on acts in every corner. Painters and sculptors expose their works on the ground, body painters offer their services and people wear fantastic costumes.The Citadel remained a 'magic shelter' for the lovers who want to protect themselves against the indiscreet eye and hide in the narrow streets or in the “Pupils' Covered Stairs"
With a lot of memories and definitely some regrets we leave Sighisoara behind, drive to Biertan to take a look at the Fortified Church, then travel across Medias and stop in Sibiel for accommodation in country-inns.
SHEPHERDS MEETING ON MOUNT JINA
From Sibiel we drive to Mount Jina to witness a more traditional festival. The shepherds around Sibiu are ready to party and have already put the “Balmos” on the fire (absolutely delicious traditional food). They have whistled the gathering on Mount Jina, where legend says that Romanians sheltered from invaders, guided by fairies and “haiduci” (outlaws).
According to tradition, the shepherds meet on Mount Jina to organize contests of milking the sheep, clip the wool, making cheese and balmosh. You won’t feel in a Romania medieval tour of but actually live medieval times! You’re Romania travel will be well reworded. The most skilful leather dressers come to Jina. They are renowned for the doublets and sheepskin coats they make.
Preserve the rustic atmosphere in the afternoon drive to Sibiu to visit the open-air Village Museum. Travel to Arad for accommodation.
Day by day itinerary:
DAY 1 Budapest - Oradea
Welcome to a Romania medieval tour. Our guide welcomes you at the Budapest Airport, then travel to Transylvania, stop in Oradea for dinner and accommodation. You'll cross the old centre of the town or the Varadinum Citadel as it was called in Latin.
| Day 2 - Oradea - Bears Cave - Girda de Sus - Cluj Napoca
From Oradea you'll travel to Bears Cave which got its name from the skeletons of some very old species of bear that were found here. Visit the Open Air Museum in Chiscau with its old cars and domestic objects. You'll then cross the mountains through Vartop Pass and enter Motzilor Land. Here you'll have a delicious traditional picnic lunch at the mouth of Poarta lui Ionele cave that will definitely worth your travel to Transylvania. Depart for Turda to visit one of the most beautiful and original salt mines in the world - Turda's Salt Mines, accommodate in Cluj Napoca.
| Day 3 - Cluj Napoca - Turzii's Gorges - Lazarea
Your day begins with a nice challenging walk through Turzii's Gorges, the most important Reservation in the Apuseni Mountains! On the way to Targu Mures, admire the noble castles Luncani and Iernut. In Targu Mures you'll visit the famous Palace of Culture. Next, your Romania travel takes you to Seklers land, stop in Lazarea, a typical seklers village, for dinner and accommodation in country-inns.
| Day 4 - Lazarea - Red Lake - Miercurea Ciuc - Brasov
Since your tour reveals the medieval Romania, you have to stop in Lazarea to visit the castle of the noble family Lazar and the monastery near by. You'll then head to Red Lake also called Killer Lake and in the area we can have a nice easy walk through Bicazului Gorges. On the way to your accommodation in Brasov, you'll visit Ciucului's Sekler Museum in Miercurea Ciuc and the Museum of Mineral Water in Tusnad. Have a special medieval dinner in “Citadel” a restaurant in Brasov.
| Day 5 - Brasov - Sinaia - Rasnov - Bran - Brasov
Today is castles day! The first one on your list is Peles, a real highlight of a Romania medieval tour, the most beautiful royal palace in Europe. Then you'll cross the mountains to visit Bran Castle also known as Dracula's Castle, in deed a good reason to travel to Transylvania. Absorb a genuine rustic atmosphere while visiting Rasnov Peasant Citadel. Drive to Brasov for a traditional dinner with folk show and wine tasting.
| Day 6 - Brasov-Sigisoara-Biertan-Medias-Sibiel
Medieval Holiday and Festivals - Sighisoara.
Tip: In Sighisoara you can enjoy your lunch in a special location” Vlad Dracul's House” Restaurant, the place where Vlad Dracul, the father of the one who bares the stigma of the bloody count Dracula, was born. It would be such a pity to miss the famous Clock Tower of Sighisoara, with its daily changing figurines which announce the hour, counts de minutes of the painful waiting until the arrival of the loved one. You can also visit here the Medieval Weapon Collection and the Torture Room.
| Day 7 - Sibiel-Jina-Sibiu-Arad
