Itinerary
Day 1
On this private half day tour of Brasov your English-Speaking guide will show you the highlights of the old town. Starting off with a walk down the main square, Piata Sfatului, one of the finest in Europe, in the heart of Brasov. Here we will stop for a visit the Old City Hall.
The Black Church dominates the main square and is Brasov's most important monument. It is the largest Gothic Church between Vienna and Istanbul. Called the Black Church because of the Great Fire the city endured in 1689. It took almost 100 years to reconstruct where only 1 of the towers was remade. The Gothic letters on the front entrance was the only piece that resisted the fire. The original construction being Gothic but the reconstruction was mainly Baroque. Inside you will find an impressive bronze cask created by a local craftsman in 1450.
Among other highlights include The Black and White Tower, The Graft Bulwark, St. Nichola's Church and The First Romanian School Museum.
