Itinerary
Day 1
Believe it or not, the ancient salt mine in Wieliczka is the oldest operating business in Poland it opened as early as the Middle Ages! Its been one of Polands greatest treasures: for centuries the salt mined here was the source of the wealth for the country (once salt served as money!),
and today its one of the most popular tourist attractions. This underground marvel is made up of almost 300 km of shafts and 3000 chambers,
3.5 kilometres of which you walk with a guide. So, go down to as deep as 135 metres underground and join the incredible number of over a million tourists who visit the place a year! Beautiful chapels, breathtaking underground lakes and well preserved traces of mining work will help you get a grasp of the old-time miners lives, their work, passions and beliefs.
Wieliczka is an absolute must!
Youve got to see it with your own eyes.
The mine makes such an incredible impression that this must be the reason why so many tourists choose to come to see it.
Important!
The temperature in the mine is stable, around 14C, so take some warm clothing with you when you come to see the mine on a hot summer day.
Not surprisingly, smoking and any use of open fire is strictly forbidden in the mine. Electric torches are not allowed in as well.

Important Notice : Avoiding Fraud
It's rare, but some helpful hints to watch out for with regards to fraud:
- It is important to NEVER wire funds or use/employ other fund transfer mechanisms such as western union: Always use a credit card to protect yourself against fraud. If owners pressure you into providing a deposit or refuse to accept credit cards, there is a high probability that this is a scam.
- If at all suspicious of fraud, ask to see their website, or any other literature they can provide or send to you. Ask them for contact details for guests who have previously stayed on their property insisting on telephone numbers. Be suspicious of emails that originate from free email services (yahoo, hotmail, gmail, etc)
- Research the property thoroughly on the internet to see if there is any history or mention of scams associated with the property.
