Itinerary
Day 1
Arrive Rome - Enjoy a delicious Roman feast.
Day 2
Rome to Positano via Naples - Relive the splendors of ancient Pompeii with a private tour of the National Archeological Museum.
Day 3
Free day on the Amalfi Coast - Meander the little alleyways of quaint Positano or catch a ferry to the island of Capri.
Day 4
More exploration of the stunning coastal town of Amalfi and the white-washed mountian village of Ravello.
Day 5
Visit to ancient Pompeii and Matera - Pompeii was once a bustling city before it was destroyed by the eruption of Mount Vesuvias in 79 AD. Enjoy a private tour. After lunch visit the desert-like landscape of Basilicata where lies the ancient city of Matera, now an important World Heritage site.
Day 6
Visit Alberobello's extraordinary Trulli houses - Walk through endless olive groves and abundant vineyards of Alberobello, whch is a UNESCO site.
Day 7
The colorful seaside village of Taormia - Drive south through Callabria, at the tip of Italy's "toe" and marvel at 5th century bronze figures. We then ferry to Sicily and arrive into the historic Greek city of Taormina.
Day 8
Taormina - Situated below Mount Etna, overlooking the sea, Taormina is an antique Mediterranean jewel. Lose yourself in streets lined with flower-filled balconies and tranquil piazzas.
Day 9
Mount Etna and central Sicily - At 11,000 feet, Mount Etna towers over Sicily... her flames and frequent eruptions were famous even in Antiquity.
Day 10
Explore quaint and secluded hill towns of Central Sicily - Visit several off the beaten path villages and tour the Villa Casale.
Day 11
Cooking class - Visit the monestery home of chef Giovanna Tornabene who is one of Sicily's best known chefs.
Day 12
Enna to medieval Agrigento and the Valley of the Temples, which were erected in the 5th century.
Day 13
Palermo - Visit two of Sicily's most fascinating sites: Segesta and Selinute. End in bustling Palermo.
Day 14
Palermo - Colorful outdoor markets and stunning cathedrals.
Day 15
Depart for home
