Day 1 - Marsala Arrival in airport and meeting with the guide, transfer to Marsala. Dinner in farm house and overnight. |
Day 2 - Marsala Breakfast. Visit of Trapani's salt pans and of the Stagnone island's surroundings: the islands of Mozia, Isola Longa, Santa and Schola represent the biggest lagoon in Sicily in one of Europe's most important "damp zone". Guided visit of one of the most prestigious winery in Sicily. Tasting of 4 wines and rustic lunch. In the afternoon transfer to Mazara del Vallo and its "satire dancing" museum. Back to the farm house, dinner and overnight. |
Day 3 - Erice Breakfast. Visit to the medieval hilltop town of Erice. Walking through the narrow streets, you will discover its numerous churches and the Venere Castle from where you can enjoy a fantastic sight on Trapani and the salt pans. After visiting the town, you will meet Mrs Maria in her pastry-shop. She will delight you with her almond patries made according to the recipes of the old convent where she lived during 15 years. You will also taste a glass of Passito or Malvasia wine. Guided visit of one of Sicily's most beautiful and interesting winery, tasting of Marsala wines and rustic lunch. Transfer to Palermo. Dinner and overnight. |
Day 4 - Madonie Park Breakfast. Day dedicated to nature and traditions. Going through the Madonie Park and its villages, we will discover the history and the beauty of these places. Following "The Cheese Roads", we will arrive in a dairy where we will discover thanks to the producer the old tradition of cheese making. We will taste Madonie's famous Provola and fresh and still warm ricotta. We will then proceed to Gangi, an old village of medieval origin . Lunch with typical local products in a 15th century Benedictine monastery. After lunch, a walk through the monastery park, surrounded by pinetree scents and secular trees and then you will go and see the old towns of Petralia Soprana and Petralia Sottana. Back to Palermo. Dinner and overnight. |
Day 5 - Palermo Breakfast. Visit of Palermo, a city where history is part of daily life: from the historical palaces to the food, from the dialect to the religious processions and the markets. Visit of the Arab-Norman and the Baroque Palermo. Visit of an old palatial residence that hosts a permanent exhibition about Sicilian wines. Tasting of local wines combined with a buffet of tipical food under the guidance of an expert. Demostration of Sicilian cooking. Afternoon at leisure. Dinner in a typical restaurant and overnight. |
Day 6 - Palermo Breakfast. Visit of Mondello and his splendid gulf, its beach, and its Liberty (art nouveau) villas, Monte Pellegrino with the Sanctuary of Santa Rosalia patroness of the city. Visit of the Capo open-air street market which reminds us of an Arabic souk for many aspects. Overwhelmed by the light, the odours and the voices, you will feel a real inhabitant of this city. Lunch. Afternoon. at leisure. Dinner in a typical restaurant of Palermo tasting a wide range of local dishes. Overnight. |
Day 7 - Ficuzza Nature Reserve After breakfast, departure for the Ficuzza Nature Reserve about 40 km from Palermo. A guide will lead you to discover Sicilian fauna and flora. Lunch in a biological farm with tasting of cheeses. Return to Palermo in the afternoon. Gala dinner in a restaurant. Overnight.
