Itinerary
Day 1
Day 1- Arrive Rome
You will be picked up from Fiumicino Airport in Rome and taken Grand Hotel Palatino which is located in the heart of ancient Rome at a short distance from the famous Colosseum. Check into the hotel. The hotel has 200 comfortably-furnished rooms with all modern amenities and two multi-cuisine restaurants that serve Roman cuisine among others.
Later, meet your tour director for a briefing.
Spend the night at the hotel.
Day 2
Day 2 Rome Sightseeing
After a buffet breakfast, go on a sightseeing tour of this historicallyârich city. Accompanied by a local guide, visit St. Peter's Church in the Vatican City. St. Peter's Church is the biggest church in the World. Don't miss the Sistine Chapel, whose ceiling is home to Michelangelo's mural masterpiece. Continue to ancient Rome to see the Forum, the area around which ancient Rome developed. Today you can see the remains of important buildings and temples. Also see the Colosseum, an elliptical amphitheatre considered the largest ever built in the Roman Empire. It is one of the greatest works of Roman architecture and engineering.
Then see Circus Maximus which was once the largest stadium in Rome where Ben Hur like chariot races took place. Today it is a park.
Later visit the Catacombs, ancient underground burial places of the Jews and the Christians or just relax in one of the many sidewalk cafes. In the evening, you may try some local cuisine at a restaurant.
Return to the hotel for the night.
Day 3
Day 3 Isle of Capri Excursion
Today's highlight is an excursion to the enchanting Isle of Capri. After a buffet breakfast, proceed in a coach to the Port of Naples to board the jetfoil to Capri. You will disembark at Marina Grande and take the funicular to Capri town and walk through the winding streets and maybe shop in the boutiques! You will also visit some of the beautiful gardens and enjoy views over the famous Faraglioni Rocks. Later, you will cruise across the Bay of Naples and rejoin your coach for your drive back to Rome.
Spend the night at the hotel.
Day 4
Day 4- Rome At Leisure
After a buffet breakfast at the hotel you are free to explore Rome on your own and shop for souvenirs. You may see the Trevi Fountain which has sculpted figures. You can join in the tradition of throwing in a coin for good luck. Visit Piazza del Popolo, which lies inside the northern gate in the Aurelian Walls, and was for centuries, a place for public executions. In neoclassical style, the piazza has an Egyptian obelisk of Rameses II in its centre. Or visit the Chuch of St. Peter in Chains to see Michelangelo's statue of Moses
Return to your hotel to spend the night.
Day 5
Day 5- Florence Excursion
After breakfast, board the coach and journey past the hilltop villages of the Umbria on your way to Tuscany and Renaissance Florence for a full day. On your arrival we enjoy views of the city from Piazzale Michelangelo. Then continue on a walking tour of the city with a local guide, and see the Santa Croce Basilica which is Florence's principal church. Built in the 14th century and started by St. Francis of Assisi, the church today entombs Florence's most famous historical figures including Michelangelo, Machiavelli, Rossini and a memorial to Dante. Outside you'll find numerous street vendors. Also see The Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore, the Duomo of Florence. It is notable for its dome designed by Filippo Brunelleschi.
Later see Signoria Square built around the 13th century and which has for centuries been the political and civic centre of Florence. This square contains important works of art like the the bronze statues of Perseus by Cellini. Later visit Santa Croce church, the church of the Franciscans which is an excellent example of Italian Gothic architecture.
You will have time and opportunity to shop for gold and leather souvenirs or visit the Fine Arts Academy to see Michelangelo's 'David'.
Later return to Rome where you will spend the night at your hotel.
Day 6
Day 6- Rome At Leisure
After a buffet breakfast, you have time at leisure to explore Rome. You may see the nearby Castelli Romani, a group of communes where many notable families have built castles or you may wish to spend the day shopping along the elegant Via Condotti.
In the evening, you may enjoy a walk in the squares around the Pantheon, a classic Roman temple, converted into a Christian church.
Return to your hotel to spend the night.
Day 7
Day 7- Depart Rome
After a buffet breakfast, you will be taken to the Fiumicino Airport to board your flight back home.
