Itinerary
Day 1
We begin our tour in the Umbrian hill town of Orvieto famous for its ceramics, cathedral and Classico vino. Situated on a high plateau, this scenic town dates back to the Etruscans as an important center for trade and art. Located approximately one hour north of Rome by train, your tour escort will personally greet you at our hotel located steps from the Duomo to assist you with checking into your room. After time to settle in you have the afternoon free to tour the city (and fight jet lag). That evening we will dine on local specialties at our "Meet and Greet Dinner". (Breakfast and Lunch on own, Group Dinner)
Day 2
We will awake to breakfast at our hotel then board a luxury motor coach to begin our tour of the hill towns of Tuscany. Our first stop is the traffic-free village of Civita. This small town of 14 residents is connected to Bagnoregio by a long pedestrian bridge over a canyon. This undiscovered village is yours for the morning to explore. It is truly a time machine to Tuscan hill town living centuries ago. From Civita we travel to one of the Etruscan's largest settlements, Cortona. Made famous in "Under the Tuscan Sun" and our favorite hill town, Cortona offers stunning views of the countryside and Lake Trasimeno. Enjoy lunch at one of its many trattoria's or gather a picnic lunch to dine with a view. We then end our day by traveling through the scenic countryside to Montalcino, the birthplace of one of the premier Italian wines varietal's, Brunello de Montalcino. (Lunch on own , Dinner on own)
Day 3
After taking breakfast at our hotel, you will have the day to spend at your leisure combing the streets and visiting the many wine shops of Montalcino. For dinner that evening we will travel to the Banfi Estate for an elegant five-course dinner and wine tasting at their wonderful restaurant. (Lunch on own, Group Dinner)
Day 4
After breakfast we depart for the fortress hill town of Montepulciano. There we will explore the thick underground network of cellars dug into the rock, where still today are stored oak barrels filled with Vino Nobile. We complete the tour with a wine tasting of Rosso di Montepulciano DOC and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG followed by lunch in the historical center. From there we travel to the ultimate hill town-Siena. We always look forward to returning this enchanting city and, after spending the afternoon roaming the medieval streets, we will dine at our favorite restaurant. We guarantee this is a meal you will never forget. (Group Lunch and Group Dinner)
Day 5
After a leisurely morning enjoying breakfast at the hotel we head to the wine estate of Verrazzno for an unforgettable tour with our friend Gino followed by a true Italian style lunch and wine tasting which will include various products from the property and local specialities. Enjoy the late afternoon and dinner on your own in Siena. (Group Lunch, Dinner on own)
Day 6
We start the morning with breakfast then a tour of Siena with a local guide. After lunch we say good-bye to Siena and head for the Renaissance city of Florence. After an afternoon of settling in we will meet for a classic Florentine dinner at a restaurant favored by the locals (Lunch on own, Group Dinner)
Day 7
After breakfast we begin our day with a guided tour of the city including the Accademia, home of Michelangelo's David. The afternoon is free to explore on your own the incredible sights (and gelato!) of Florence. We will be happy to secure reservations for you at the top sites if available. (Lunch on own, Dinner on own)
Day 8
We depart Florence via train to the most romantic city in the world, Venice! Upon arrival we will immediately be transported down the Grand Canal to our hotel by private launch. After checking in we encourage you to lose yourself in the charms of Venice. As the sun sets we begin a tour of our favorite wine bars and osterias beginning and ending in Piazzo San Marco. (Lunch on own, Pub Crawl is a group event but not included in the price of the tour)
Day 9
Today we start off our morning with a private guided boat tour down the Grand Canal. We then travel by private boat to the islands of Burano-famous for lace making-and Tortcello, where Venice was originally settled. We will enjoy lunch at on this tiny island before heading back to Venice where you can enjoy your last afternoon exploring the city. We end our tour with dinner at another of our favorite restaurants. (Group lunch, Group dinner)
