Enjoy seven days exploring Emilia Romagna with us on a fully escorted gourmet food and wine tour. The tour is based in Bologna with visits to Parma, Modena, Ferrara, Brisighella & Ravenna.
Itinerary
Day 1
Welcome apertivo and meet fellow travelers at the hotel. Guided walk around Bologna with a visit to the medieval market to see the ancient food shops. Welcome dinner based on regional dishes at a quaint restaurant in the city center.

Day 2
Breakfast buffet at the hotel. Transfer by private coach to Modena where we will visit a producer of balsamic vinegar. There we will learn how it is made followed by a tasting. Transfer to Modena with a walk around the historical center followed by a three course lunch. Transfer back to Bologna, free evening

Day 3
Breakfast and an early departure to a cheese factory near Parma where we will take a tour of the factory and learn about the process of making the world famous Parmesan cheese, ending with a tasting. Transfer to the city center for a walk around town, followed by lunch in a cozy trattoria. Transfer back to Bologna in the late afternoon with the evening free to shop or relax.

Day 4
Breakfast at the hotel followed by a transfer to Ravenna with a stop to visit a historic church in Classe. Morning walking tour with a guide to visit the World Heritage sites, churches and baptisteries covered with the best mosaics found in the western world. Lunch at a fantastic wine bar where we will have the chance to enjoy dishes from the region of Romagna. After lunch, a visit to the award winning Umberto Winery where we will learn about the process of making wine, followed by a tasting. Transfer by private coach back to Bologna. Free evening.

Day 5
Breakfast buffet at the hotel. Today is a free day to shop, relax, or take a trip to a nearby city. Your tour director will be on hand to offer some activities or to suggest an itinerary for the day (Florence and Venice can both be reach by train in less than 2 hours).

Day 6
Morning transfer to Ferrara after breakfast. Walking tour of Ferrara, the City of the Renaissance and UNSECO World Heritage site, with a local guide followed by lunch where we will have the chance to try some of the rich, famous dishes of Ferrara. After lunch, we will transfer by private coach to the small fishing village of Comacchio: known as âlittle Veniceâ for its winding canals and footbridges. Evening transfer back to Bologna. Leisure time.

Day 7
Breakfast at the hotel. Morning transfer to the village of Dozza, known around the world for its biannual competition of art, in which the wining piece is painted on the façade of a house in the town center. It is also listed at âOne of the most beautiful villages in Italyâ. There we will take a tour of the castle, where the regional wine library of Emilia Romagna is housed in the cellar. This permanent wine collection has over 800 different types of wine, from over 200 different wineries.
Transfer to the medieval village of Brisighella, which is also listed as on the most beautiful villages in Italy. It is famous around the world for its high quality olive oil. We will visit a local producer to learn about the ancient process of making olive oil, followed by a sampling. Afterwards, we will enjoy a leisurely lunch at one of the local restaurants, followed by a walk through town.
Once lunch is finished, we will make a stop to visit a historic Romanesque church which sits just outside of Brisighella. Transfer back to Bologna with some leisure time followed by a farewell dinner at a restaurant in the center of Bologna.

Day 8
The tour concludes after breakfast at our hotel. From Ferrara it is a short train ride back to Bologna where you can catch a train to anywhere in Italy. Of course Venice is only an hour and a half by train. Perhaps you will want to continue on to the most romantic city in the world. Whatever your choice, I will be happy to assist with your plan
