An eight day walk through the Bavarian Forest and the neighbouring Czech Republic. The route is a former trade route from the Danube Valley over the hills of the Bavarian and Bohemian Forests.

ITINERARY
Day 1 - Arrive in Straubing.
Day 2 - Walk along the Danube, then up into the foothills of the Bavarian Forest to Neukirchen (about 15 miles, 6 hours).
Day 3 - Now you climb into the hills. Over the top of St. Engelmar (2972 feet) to finish at Kollnburg (about 11 miles, 5 hours).
Day 4 - Walk through hill country to Viechtach and the Höllenstein Lake. Continue via a pilgrimage church to Kötzting(about 13 miles, 5 hours).
Day 5 - Walk via the ruins of Lichteneck Castle and over the Hoher Bogen (the highest point on the route)Neukirchen bei Heiligem Blut(about 17 miles, 8 hours).
Day 6 - A short walk brings you to the Czech border where you cross into sparsley settled border country. End at Kdyne(about 15 miles, 5 hours).
Day 7 - Stay in the Czech lands all day, walking via Branisov and over Korab Domazlice(about 11 miles, 5 hours).
Day 8 - Climb the "Happy Mountain" with its pilgrimage church, across meadows and back to the German border to end at Furth im Wald(about 12 miles, 5 hours).
