ITINERARY
Day 1 - Depart U.S. Arrive Paris Charles De Gaul Pick up and load van. Drive to Normandy
Day 2 - We will be joined by Normandy tour guide, Paul Woodadge and will visit a portion of 82nd Airborne Divisions area of operations. This will include Ste.Mere Eglise, La Fiere Manoir and the causeway, Timmes’ Orchard, The location where men of the 508th ambushed Gen.Falley, Chef du Pont and the bridge that Roy Creek and men of the 508th held. More sites will be added if time permits.
Day 3 - Paul will again join us for a tour of Utah and Omaha Beaches, Point du Hoc and the U.S. Cemetery on the bluffs above Omaha Beach. If the group would like, we could return to Ste.Mere Eglise and you can do some souvenir shopping or we could visit the German bunkers at Crisbeq or the Azeville bunkers.
Day 4 - We will be joined by historian and author, Mark Bando and our Veteran guest. This is where the tour really gets in depth! We will be visiting many locations where you will get information on the men of the 101st and what they did in that location, who did it and why. Ravenoville and Marmion Farm- The location where many men of the division gathered. Brecourt Manor- See where the men of E/506 took the German Guns. The XYZ Complex- The location where Sgt.Harrison Summers made his attacks. Ste.Marie du Mont- See the famous church and town pump.
Day 5 - Dead Man’s Corner- Where Don Burgett fought and the location of the knocked out US tank. Down “Purple Heart Lane” and across the 4 bridges. The road leading to Carentan and where the 101st fought very tough resistance. The Cabbage Patch and where Col.Cole led the bayonette charge and won the Medal of Honor. Carentan-Where the awards ceremony was held and location of one of E/506ths many battles. Bloody Gulch and Bloody Gully-See where Don was wounded and where they made another bayonette charge and fought the 17th SS. Graignes-Where 101st men where murdered by elements of the 17th SS. La Barquette Locks-One of the important location that the 101st seized during the invasion.
Day 6 - Hell’s Corners- Where Leo Gillis and the Geronimo men ambushed the German Paratroopers. The crossroads where Winters’ group ambushed the German column on the morning of June 6th. Chateau Columbiere-Where the POW compound was as well as one of the aid stations. Holdy-We will see where one of the major German gun batteries was located.
Day 7 - Gillis’ Corner-See the location of his fight and where Don B. Was ambushed. The location where Col.Wolverton was killed. Doc Lage’s aid stations. There are other locations that we will visit in between all of these.
Day 8 - Angoville au Plain- See where Sink had his HQ and visit the famous church with the bloody pews where medics from the 501st set up the aid station.
Day 9 - We typically leave this day open for you to do as you would like. Our customers have really appreciated having this day open.
Day 10 - Unfortunately, all good things must end..We will depart Normandy for Paris.
