Itinerary
Day 1
Sunday - Travel to Chamonix to arrive for the 18:00 check-in followed by and course safety and itinerary briefings. There is time for kit checks or rental of equipment. Briefings are over by 20:00. Night in Chamonix.
Day 2
Monday - Day to familiarise on snowshoes, and to acclimatise gently. The snowshoeing is usually above Les Houches on fairly easy gradient terrain. A popular route is to reach the summit of Le Prarion at 1969m, overlooking the valley. Guiding ratio 1:6 (max). Night spent in Chamonix.
Day 3
Tuesday - Now that you are happy on snowshoes, you undertake a spectacular trek such as the Col du Berard above the village of Vallorcine. This follows the torrent gorge up through the woods, before emerging above the treeline in the Berard valley, before heading up past the hut to the Col, which is a great place for a lunch stop. Guiding ratio 1:6 (max). Night spent in Chamonix.
Day 4
Wednesday - A popular trek for the middle of the week is in the Contamines valley to the West of Mont Blanc. Here the goal of the day would be to ascend to the summit of Mont Truc 1811m, and the spectacularly situated Chalets du Truc. Guiding ratio 1:6 (max). Night spent in Chamonix.
Day 5
Thursday - If the group would like to spend a night in a remote mountain hut, then the next two days are usually the best for this two day mini-expedition. The alternative is another day trek, with the night in Chamonix. Guiding ratio 1:6 (max). The group can decide at the start of the week which itinerary it would like to follow. Note the price of the hut is not included in the course price.
Day 6
Friday - Either a trek and descent from a mountain hut (such as the Victor Emmanuel refuge), or a day trek from Chamonix. An ideal final trek from Chamonix would be the Mont de l'Arpille 2085m above Martigny and the Rhone valley. Guiding ratio 1:6 (max). Night spent in Chamonix.
Day 7
Saturday - After breakfast the accommodation check out is at 10:00, but most people book an afternoon or evening flight so they can spend the day sightseeing or shopping around Chamonix.

If you want to spend a full week snowshoeing in the Chamonix region, then this is the course for you. During the week you will explore many different regions, often visiting Switzerland and Italy for a day, as well as France.
The aim is to show you some of the hidden secrets of the Mont Blanc massif, and there is the option of staying in a mountain hut for a night if you wish. On this week there is the opportunity to take in quite a few summits on snowshoes, so it can be a really gratifying course to undertake.
As well as enjoying a great week of snowshoeing, we aim to teach you the key safety skills for route planning and winter Alpine journeys, with a lot of weight put on avalanche prediction and reaction, as well as the selection of appropriate Alpine equipment.
