Itinerary
Day 1
Plovdiv is one of the oldest and most colorful towns in Bulgaria. The whole of Plovdiv's six millennia long history can be traced in the Old Town. It is declared an archeological reserve and covers the three-hill area where the town was located originally. Lots of history has been written here â Thracian, Roman, Greek, Turks and even the Hun left their marks. We will take a nice walk on the cobblestone streets to see numerous colorful houses from the National Revival period (Bulgarian Renaissance), churches, archeological monuments and museums, fortress walls and the most important landmark â the Roman Amphitheatre. During the tour we will visit the Ethnographic museum, which is one of the most beautiful revival period houses in Plovdiv. The exhibition consists of folklore costumes, traditional crafts and jewelry from Plovdiv and the surrounding areas. Some rooms have been restored to their 19th century appearance.
