Itinerary

Day 1

December 7th-
Individual flights arrive by 2:00 pm.
Those participating in both rain forest and cloud forest workshops will stay with the bus while the rain forest group departs. They will visit the La Garita area, with lunch at Delicias del Maiz. There are gardens and nurseries in the area, providing good photo opportunities. If taking both programs, participants will receive a $100 discount off total.
Depart for Savegre. Dinner at the hotel. Evening introductory presentations about digital photography and cloud forests. Overnight at Savegre Mountain Hotel. (D).

Day 2

December 8th-
Day spent photographing different aspects of the cloud forest.
 Photography on the lower trails
 Travel by truck to the upper reserve
 Visit Miriam's house to photograph birds
 Evening Costa Rican insect and/or frog photography
Overnight at Savegre Mountain Hotel. (BLD)

Day 3

December 9th-
Hummingbird and cloud forest photography.
 Morning multiple flash hummingbird set up
 Afternoon travel to Trogon Lodge to explore the lower trails.
 Evening show of group photos
Overnight at Savegre Mountain Hotel. (BLD)

Day 4

December 10th-
Photograph coffee plantation, explore local markets and possible sunset photography
 Depart for San Jose this morning
 Visit to Britt Coffee Plantation
 Shopping at Sarchi, a quaint town with many traditional Costa Rican oxcarts and other subjects
 Stop for sunset photography, weather permitting
 Dinner at the hotel
Overnight at Buena Vista Hotel (BLD)

Day 5

December 11th-
Departures for San Jose airport after breakfast.

Important Notice : Avoiding Fraud

It's rare, but some helpful hints to watch out for with regards to fraud:

  • It is important to NEVER wire funds or use/employ other fund transfer mechanisms such as western union: Always use a credit card to protect yourself against fraud. If owners pressure you into providing a deposit or refuse to accept credit cards, there is a high probability that this is a scam.
  • If at all suspicious of fraud, ask to see their website, or any other literature they can provide or send to you. Ask them for contact details for guests who have previously stayed on their property insisting on telephone numbers. Be suspicious of emails that originate from free email services (yahoo, hotmail, gmail, etc)
  • Research the property thoroughly on the internet to see if there is any history or mention of scams associated with the property.
