Itinerary

Day 1

Saturday: KATHMANDU-ZANGMU-NYALAM
Drive Kathmandu to Nepal/Tibet border at KODARI (5 hrs). After Nepal Immigration and custom formalities drive to Zangmu for entry into Tibet/China. Continue up the Bhote Koshi gorge to Nyalam (3750m/12300ft). Guest House (b/b).

Day 2

Sunday: NYALAM-TINGRI-SHEGAR
Drive to TINGRI (4342m/8 hrs) or Xegar crossing two passes NYALAM TONGLA and LALUNG LA (5050m) with excellent views (weather permitting) of the lofty Himalayan peaks including Mt. Everest. Guest House (b/b).

Day 3

Monday: SHEGAR-SHIGATSE
Drive from TINGRI to SHIGATSE (3900m/8 hrs) crossing two passes LHAKPA LA (5200m) and TSUO LA (4500m). Overnight Hotel (b/b).

Day 4

Tuesday: SHIGATSE-GYANTSE
AM: Sightseeing tour of TASHILUNGPO MONASTERY and SHIGATSE MARKET.
Afternoon drive to GYANTSE (3950m/3 hrs). Visit PHALKOR MONASTERY, KUMBUM STUPA and GYANTSE MARKET. Overnight Hotel (b/b).

Day 5

Wednesday: GYANTSE-LHASA
Drive GYANTSE to LHASA (3650m/8 hours) crossing two passes KARO LA (5010m) and KAMBA LA (4794m) via YAMDROK LAKE (Turquoise Lake). Overnight Hotel (b/b).

Day 6

Thursday: LHASA SIGHTSEEING
Sightseeing tours of POTALA PALACE, JOKHANG Temple and BARKHOR MARKET. Overnight Hotel (b/b).

Day 7

Friday: LHASA SIGHTSEEING
Sightseeing tours of DREPUNG MONASTERY, NORBULINGKA PALACE and SERA MONASTERY. Overnight Hotel (b/b).

Day 8

Saturday: DEPARTURE
Drive to GONGGAR airport for flight to KATHMANDU, CHENGDU or BEIJING.
End of Tibet Tour
