Day 1
Airport : Colombo
Meet on arrival and transfer from Airport to Colombo
Rest of the day is at leisure.
Dinner and overnight stay at Galle Face Hotel.
Day 2
Airport : Colombo
Meet on arrival and transfer from Airport to Colombo
Rest of the day is at leisure.

Day 3
Kandalama : Polonnaruwa : Minneriya : Kandalama
Breakfast at Kandalama Hotel.
Transfer from Kandalama to Polonnaruwa.
Polonnaruwa
Visit Polonnaruwa, which was the 2nd capital city of Sri Lanka built in the 11th and 12th centuries AD, and which is a world heritage site. Here you can see the ruins of the Royal Palace, the Gal Viharaya where 4 splendid statues of the Buddha in 'Upright', 'Sedentary' and 'Recumbent' postures carved out of rock could be seen, the Audience Hall, the Lotus Bath, the statue of king Parakramabahu, and the Parakrama Samudraya - a lake built by King Parakramabahu the great. There are also monuments of famous places of worship such as the Shiva Temple, the Lankathilake, the Watadage, the Galpotha, the Kiri Vehera and the remains of a former Temple of the Tooth Relic.
However our main concern here is to see the historical evidence of cultural association of elephant in Sri Lanka. Elephant wall (Ath paura) is a characteristic feature of the temples from ancient times to now.
Transfer from Polonnaruwa to Minneriya.
Minneriya National Park
Do a safari of Minneriya National Park by jeep. The Minneriya tank and the wetlands in this National Park provide very important habitats for animal and plant species found in this park. Wild elephants, various amphibians, local and immigrant bird species are plenty in this park. During the dry season large number of elephants moves in to this park. One can see more than 150 elephants at a time during this period. (Number is greater than the whole elephant population in Nepal or Bhutan!). There are bamboo trees, which are rare in other parks.

Day 4
Kandalama : Habarana : Kandalama
Breakfast at Kandalama Hotel.
Transfer from Kandalama to Habarana.
Elephant Back Safari
This elephant back safari will take you through the beautiful path, which covers dry zone forest, streams and will be an unforgettable experience.
In the evening you will be taken to the forest area to see the elephant dung and footmarks. On this session your interpreter will explain you how to measure the height of an elephant using its footmarks and how can you identify its food by analyzing dung. If you are lucky you might see few wild elephants as well.

Day 5
Kandalama : Kandy
Breakfast at Kandalama Hotel.
Transfer from Kandalama to Kandy.
Kandy was the last capital of the Sri Lankan kings, and is a World Heritage Site. The name Kandy conjures visions of splendour and magnificence. Many of the legends, traditions and folklore are still lovingly kept alive. Drive around the Kandy Lake built by the last Sinhala king Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe in 1798.
Visit the arts & crafts center and a gem museum and a lapidary where you can see elephant carvings made out of wood and silver and decorated by jewels. If you wish you can buy few as souvenirs.
Temple of the Tooth Relic
In the evening visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic. Kandy Temple has strong cultural bond with elephants for centuries. At present, the best example of the use of tamed elephants in Sri Lanka is the annual Kandy Esala Perahera (held in July/August), which is one of the most important religious festivals of the Buddhists. In every year over 100 tamed elephants beautifully dressed up and parade the streets for Perahera. You can also see the stuffed tusker called Raja. Raja participated in the perahera for years carrying on its back the sacred tooth of relic. After its death in 1988 it is mounted and on display.
Thereafter witness a cultural show featuring traditional Sri Lankan dancing.

Day 6
Kandy : Udawalawe
After an early Breakfast at Earl S Regency Hotel you will be transfer to the Udawalawe National Park.
Udawalawe National Park
Transfer from park entrance to the campsite by 4WD jeeps. You can have a lunch at campsite.
In the evening do a safari of The Udawalawe National Park by jeep. This is a dry zone park, which was declared as a national park in 1972. The park falls between Udawalawe reservoir and the Walawe River and is surrounded by the scenic beauty of the mountain ranges that keep on winding endlessly on the Balangoda, Kalthota and Haputale escarpments. This park is world famous for its elephants, seen in all their playfulness, whole herds of them, adults and babies bathing and playing in the water or feeding.
In addition to the elephants, spotted deer, sambhur, barking deer, gray langur, water buffalo and jackal are some of the prominent wild animals found in this park. Serpent eagles, hawk eagles, white bellied sea eagles, black capped bulbuls, Malabar pied horn bills, white necked storks, open bills, white ibis, white rumped-shama the forest Nightingale, stork billed kingfishers and peacocks are also found in fair numbers.
Overnight stay at the campsite of Udawalawe National Park.
Day 7
Udawalawe : Yala
Do an early morning jeep safari to see the elephants and returned to the campsite for Breakfast.
Transfer from Udawalawe to Yala National Park.
On your way you will be taken to see the electric fence, which was erected to minimize the human- elephant conflict and you will also taken to human-elephant conflict area to see the strategies used by people to keep elephants away.
Yala National Park
In the evening do a safari of the Yala National Park by jeep. Yala is the largest National Park in Sri Lanka and also a one of the most beautiful National Parks in the country. It is the home of wild elephants, wild boar, wild buffalo, leopard, bear, deer and crocodiles. This park is famous for seeing tuskers. You can also see large flocks of birds as well.
Dinner and overnight stay at Yala Village.
Day 8
Yala : Galle : Colombo
Breakfast at Yala Village.
Transfer from Yala to Galle.
Galle
Galle was once the chief port of Sri Lanka. It is still well known for hand-made lace. You can also visit the Galle Fort (spanning 90 acres) which was originally built by the Portuguese and later extended by the Dutch in 1663. This is also a World Heritage Site.
Transfer from Galle to Colombo.
Dinner and overnight stay at Galle Face Hotel.
Day 9
Colombo : Airport
Breakfast at Galle Face Hotel.
Transfer from Colombo to Airport.
