Travel from Christchurch through the rich pastoral farmland of the Canterbury Plains, then travel inland to the township of Geraldine where you stop for morning tea.
Itinerary
Day 1
Travel from Christchurch through the rich pastoral farmland of the Canterbury Plains, then travel inland to the township of Geraldine where you stop for morning tea (own expense). From Geraldine travel across historic Burkes Pass before descending to the stunning glacial-fed Lake Tekapo to visit the Church of the Good Shepherd that stands on the lake foreshore. Travel up the western side of Lake Pukaki to Mount Cook. Spend time enjoying lunch (own expense) or exploring the Mount Cook Village. Return to Christchurch by coach. There is time for an optional scenic flight before returning to Christchurch (weather permitting).
