Itinerary

Day 1

Surrounded in all directions by astonishing mountain views, this trek concentrates on the main Khumbu valley, allowing ample time for necessary acclimatisation, in readiness for the ascent of Kala Pattar with its stunning views of Everest, and for the incredible walk over the famous Khumbu glacier to the focal point of the trek, Everest Base Camp.
The trek starts, as do most in this region, after an unforgettable flight to Lukla from Kathmandu. From Lukla the trail ascends through forests and intriguing Sherpa villages to the thriving settlement of Namche Bazaar.After Namche the trek aims for Thame village, birthplace of Tenzing Norgay Sherpa, where there is an opportunity for acclimatisation as trails are explored off the beaten track.

The trail passes through the beautiful Imja Khola Valley with marvellous views of fabulous peaks and glaciers. Later on is the highest camp of the trek, at Gorak Shep, from which point begins the ascent of Kala Pattar (5545m), from whose summit there are even more spectacular views of the surrounding mountains, including the familiar black rocky triangle shape of the south-west face of Everest. At this point a day is allowed to visit Everest Base Camp at the foot of the impressive Khumbu Icefall undeniably demanding, but more than worth the effort if just because of its fame.The return journey takes in Thyangboche Monastery which is the region's most important centre of Buddhism, before continuing to Lukla and the end of the trek, prior to another exciting mountain flight to Kathmandu.


Day 1 - Arrive in Kathmandu and transport to Hotel
Day 2 - Kathmandu Morning sightseeing, Preparing for trek
Day 3 - Flight to Lukla (2840m), trek to Phakding (2610m)
Day 4 - Trek to Namche Bazaar (3440m)
Day 5 - Acclimatization day in Namche Bazaar
Day 6 - A short trek to Khumjung (3780m) or trek to Khunde (3840m) via Thame (3493m)
Day 7 - Trek to Phorse (3810m)
Day 8 - Trek to Pheriche (4270m) or Dingboche (4410m)
Day 9 - Acclimatization day at Pheriche (may be explore Imja valley, visit to Bibre (4570m) and Chhuking (4370m) villages and back to Pheriche or if there are some energy left then an open option tackle with Chhuking Ri (5550m), a walking peak doesn�t require permit and any climbing skills)
Day 10 - Trek to Lobuche (4910m)
Day 11 - Acclimatization day Lobuche
Day 12 - Trek to Everest Base Camp (5361m) and back Gorak Shep (5140m)
Day 13 - Early morning ascending to Kala Patar (5550m), and trek back to Lobuche
Day 14 - Trek back to Deboche (3710m) or Thyangboche (3860m)
Day 15 - Trek to Monjo (2835m) via Nache Bazaar
Day 16 - Trek to Lukla (2840m) and last day party
Day 17 - Fly back to Kathmandu
Day 18 - Shopping /leisure time in Kathmandu and optional visit to EPHC, our disadvantage children support project
Day 19 - Transfer to airport for international departure

Important Notice : Avoiding Fraud

It's rare, but some helpful hints to watch out for with regards to fraud:

  • It is important to NEVER wire funds or use/employ other fund transfer mechanisms such as western union: Always use a credit card to protect yourself against fraud. If owners pressure you into providing a deposit or refuse to accept credit cards, there is a high probability that this is a scam.
  • If at all suspicious of fraud, ask to see their website, or any other literature they can provide or send to you. Ask them for contact details for guests who have previously stayed on their property insisting on telephone numbers. Be suspicious of emails that originate from free email services (yahoo, hotmail, gmail, etc)
  • Research the property thoroughly on the internet to see if there is any history or mention of scams associated with the property.
