Itinerary

Day 1

Day 01 On arrival in Kathmandu, you will be met by a MOUNTAIN ZONES staff member at the airport and transferred to your Western-style hotel. Your guides will be available for advice on everything from how to bargain to choosing restaurants to learning a little bit of the Nepali language. You will have some time to just relax, or to nibble at the feast of new experiences in this exotic city. Brief orientation.

Day 2

Day 02 Your second day in Kathmandu includes guided visits to famous temples of Swayambhunath, Pasupatinath or Boddhanath. You will see life going on as it has for hundreds of years against a background of sacred peaks, terraced hillsides and an exotic culture. While you explore, your staff gets all your entrance, permits and logistical requirements in order.

Day 3

Day 03 Kathamandu/Pokhara. Travel to Pokhara by road which takes 7 hours. Early in the morning you will take a tourist bus. The road follows the broad river called Trisuli and Marsyandi. You may see the rafting in the river.

Day 4

Day 04 Pokhara/ Pothana. Today you will be driven to Phedi and then start your hike up to Pothanal You will have your first views of rural Nepal life in this small villages of Gurung and Magar communities. Many people in this village serve the British Gorkha Army. Dhampus offers excellent views of all of the high peaks of Annapurna, including Machapuchare. If your timing is right, you may also see birds migrating from Tibet to Chitwan in Southern Nepal.

Day 5

Day 05 Pothana/Ghandrung. Today you hike over a small pass, then descend to the Gurung village of Landrung above the Modi Khola River. From the river, a set of stone steps leads you into the maze of alleyways and terraces of Gandruk, one of the most beautiful communities in this area. From here, you have excellent views of Annapurna South.

Day 6

Day 06 Ghandrung/Tadapani. The trail continues up and down through forests to the village of "Bainse Kharka". After this village, the trail descends down toward the dry stream and then finally climbs again gradually passing through the rhododendron forest. After you have emerged out of the forest, you reach the village of Tadapani.

Day 7

Day 07 Tadapani/Ghandrung. The trail descends for an hour and than climbs gradually to reach the village of Banthanti. The trail continues twisting and turning up hill through the village of Daurally. After passing through more forests, you reach Gorepani. From here, you have excellent views of both Mt. Annapurna and Dhaulagiri.

Day 8

Day 08 Ghandrung/Poonhill/Tikhedunga. Today you have to wake up at 4:30am to catch the sunrise over the poonhill. From Poonhill you will see the magnificent view of Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, Nilgiri, Fishtail and many other peaks. After catching the sunrise in your camera you will walk down to the hotel again and have breakfast. You will start your journey after then. The trail descends through a beautiful dense rhododendron forest for about an hour. After about two hours, you will pass through a Gurung village of Ulleri. After crossing the Burundi Khola River you will comes today¡¯s destination.

Day 9

Day 09 Tirkhedunga/Nayapul/Pokhara. The trail continues with a gradual descent to Birethanti. You will take a transport from the Nayapul to the Pokhara.
The rest of the day is free to explore Pokhara on your own. Perhaps take a boat out on the lake or enjoy browsing the many shopping stalls.

Day 10

Day 10 Pokhara/Kathmandu. You will take a tourist bus back to Kathamndu from Pokhara. Over night at hotel in Kathamndu.

Day 11

Day 11 After breakfast transfer to airport and final dep.

This trek can be operat any season of the year however best season for this trek is Feb to May and September to December. The trek can be operated in both teahouses and camping on request, as well as being able to combine with some other activities such as white water rafting & wildlife safari.
