East India Temple Tour will take us to the temples of East India including the Lord Jagannath temple of Puri and Konark temple, one of the most important pilgrimage centre for Hindus.
Itinerary
Day 1
Flight to India (New Delhi)
You arrive in Delhi by international flight. After a traditional 'Swagat' (Welcome) our representatives would assist you at the airport and to our hotel for check in and overnight stay.
Day 2
New Delhi - Breakfast at the Coffee shop. Rest of the morning at leisure. You will be taken on a guided tour of Delhi, beginning with a morning sightseeing trip to Old Delhi and followed by visits to the 1648 Red Fort, India's largest mosque - Jama Masjid and Gandhi Memorial at Raj Ghat. Afternoon tour includes visits to India Gate, President's House, Humayun's Tomb, Lotus Temple and Qutab Minar. Overnight stay at hotel.
Day 3
New Delhi - Bhubaneshwar (by air)
In the morning after having our breakfast we drive to the airport for the flight to Bhubaneshwar. Bhubaneshwar is considered the most sacred city in Orissa. Bhubaneshwar (The Lord of the universe) is now the modern capital city of the Indian State Orissa. Upon arrival at Bhubaneshwar, you will be transferred to the hotel. Bhubaneshwar had once 7000 temples that were built between 8th and 13th centuries.
Day 4
Bhubaneshwar - Konark - Puri : Today we will visit some of the finest examples of the classical temple architecture including Lingraj, Rajrani and Mukteshwar temples and then drive through the tropical coastal area to the famous temples of Konark. Konark was once the centre of Buddhism in India. Now it is famous for the Hindu temples. The world famous Surya Temple is dedicated to God Surya (Sun). The King Langula Narasimha Deva built this temple in the 13th century AD. Surya temple of Konark represents the complete development of Orissian style and architecture that is the only one time example in India being the most beautiful without any counter piece. After visiting this temple we drive to Puri. Late evening arrival in Puri and transferred to the hotel.
Day 5
Puri - Puri is one of the four most important pilgrimage centre for Hindus. Today in the morning we visit the Jagannath temple of Puri. The temple of Lord Jagannath (God Vishnu), who is considered the preserver of the world in Hinduism, attracts thousands on feast every day, particularly at the time of 'Rath Yatra' (the car festival). The Jagannath temple is also referred as the white Pagoda and it accommodates 5000 priests in its premises. It's an experience to observe the activities of the pilgrims visiting this unique temple. It is one of the most sacred temples in India. In the afternoon we visit the Puri beach. The Puri Beach is also known as one of India's finest beaches. Puri Beach attracts millions of travelers to India with its strategic setting and religious importance.
Day 6
Puri - Tapta Pani (about 310 km) :
In the morning after having breakfast we drive to Tapta Pani. Enroute we visit Chilka Lake and roadside semi tribal villages.
Day 7
Tapta Pani - Rayagada (about 220 km):
In the morning we will drive to Rayagada. En-route we will visit Desia Kondh Tribal Village in Puttasingh area. Then we will embark on a mild hiking on the Niyamagiri Hills to view the Dongaria Kondh Tribal hamlets. Return back to Rayagada and en route visit the Kutia Kondh Tribal village.
Day 8
Rayagada - Jeypore (about 220 km)
In the morning we will drive from Rayagada to Jeypore. En- route visit Dongariya Kondh Tribe at Chatikona. In the evening we will visit market of Bonda and Godhaba Tribes.
Day 9
Jeypore - Today after having breakfast we drive further and visit Gupteshvar Cave and Dhuruba Tribal Village.
Day 10
Jeypore - Bhubaneshwar - Kolkata (by air) :
In the afternoon we drive to Bhubaneshwar. Then we drive to the airport for flight to Kolkata (formerly known as Calcutta). Kolkata is India's largest city and one of the biggest cities in south Asia. This city was earlier a colonial city of the British in India. Upon arrival, you will be met by an Caper Travels representative and transferred to the hotel. Evening free for leisure.
Day 11
Kolkata - Today we will explore this vibrant and lively city during the whole day tour. We will visit the Victoria Memorial and magnificent buildings in the area of Chowringhee and Dalhousie Square. We also visit the Jain Temple, the temple of Goddess Kali and the Fort Williams. In the area Joransanko we have the opportunity to visit the family house of the famous Indian writer Ravindranath Tagore.
Day 12
Kolkata - New Delhi (by air) :
In the morning, after having our breakfast we drive to airport for flight to New Delhi. Arrive in New Delhi in the afternoon. Rest of the day at leisure. After dinner we leave the hotel for the airport.
