Day 01: Arrive Guwahati
Meeting upon arrival and transfer to hotel.

Day 02: Guwahati
Morning after breakfast temple tour of Guwahati visiting:
Kamakhya Temple: The Kamakhya Temple dominates the life of Guwahati, as much as does the great Brahmaputra River. The temple, situated high aloft a hill called Neelachal Parbat or Kamagiri in the city of Guwahati is one of its several religious landmarks, which speaks volumes about the rich historical treasure over which the state of Assam is seated. The Kamakhya Temple had been built in reverence to Goddess Kamakhya or Sati, who was one of the numerous incarnations of Goddess Durga or Goddess Shakti.
Navagraha Temple: The temple of nine planets situated on Chitra Chal Hill in Guwahati. It is 3 km away from the Railway Station. In ancient times, it was said to have been a great centre of study of astronomy and astrology. This is also one of the reasons why Guwahati is referred to as Pragjyotishpur or the city of eastern Astrology.
Umananda Temple: The great Shiva temple situated on the Peacock island in the middle of the Brahmaputra in Guwahati attracts devotees from all over the country during Shiva Ratri. One can visit the temple by crossing the river by country boat plying from Kachari ghat. On the north bank of the Brahmaputra, opposite Guwahati, where the third Pandava Arjun is believed to have watered his horse while undertaking journey during Ashwamedh Yajna. Regular ferry services are available to this place.
Basistha Ashram: Situated in the southern-most rim of Guwahati city on the Sandhyachal hill is a well known holy cum picnic spot, called Basistha ashram, after the great vedic Sage Bashistha, who is said to have lived here. Three rivulets named Sandhya, Lalita and Kanta meet here and flow perenially adding scenic grandeur to the place. It is 12 Kms. from the Guwahati Railway Station. City buses ply regularly to the Ashram.
Madan Kamdev: Barely 40 kms. away from the sprawling metropolis Guwahati, on N.H. 52 Madan Kamdev is an enigma, a mystery, a marvel and in the words of Omar Khayam, "a veil past which I could not see". Very little is known about the origin of this magnificient archaeological ruins.Written history is almost silent on it, leaving wide room for conjectures and hypothesis.

Day 03: Guwahati / Tezpur (185 kms, 4 hrs drive)
Morning after breakfast depart for Tezpur, the city of Blood.
En route stop to enjoy the beauty of mighty river Brahmaputra

Evening visit the Ganesh Ghat to enjoy the sunset.

Day 4
Day 04: Tezpur
Morning after breakfast temple tour of Tezpur visiting:
The Bhairabi Temple: The Bhairabi Temple is located on the outskirts Tezpur in Assam, India.
The Goddess Durga is worshipped here. The backdrop of the temple is a view looking towards the Kolia Bhomora Setu across the Brahmaputra River. The temple site is also locally known as Maithan and Bhairabi Devalaya. Legend has it that Usha (daughter of mighty Asura King Banasura) regularly came here for the worshipping of the Goddess. About a couple of kilometres away lie the Bamuni Hills where one can view the ruins of the palace that stood many centuries ago. The art work on stone carvings that were used within the structure are from the 9th century.
There are sacrificial offerings of goats and bulls that still occurs regularly here.
The entrance to the temple is through a very long staircase that leads up from the approach road to the temple itself. There are numerous facilities for the purchase of ghee lamps, incense sticks, sweets and fruits etc that are offered during prayers for blessings.
The Mahabhairav Temple: The ancient Mahabhairav Temple is located in Tezpur town, Assam. This temple is believed to have been established by king Bana in the pre-historical times. This Shiva temple was originally built of stone but the present one was renovated and built with concrete. During the Ahom rule, the kings especially of the Tungkhungiya dynasty donated large area of Devottar land to the Temple and pujaris and Paiks were appointed to look after the temple. The responsibility of management was in the hands of a Borthakur. The temple is now managed by the Government through a managing committee headed by the District Deputy Commissioner. Shivaratri is celebrated in the temple with big festivity and people from all over the country visit it.
Agnigarh: Legend has it that this fortress was surrounded by fire at all times so that nobody could go in or out of the perimeter without permission. Usha fell in love with Aniruddha in her dreams not knowing who he was. Her companion Chitralekha identified him by painting his portrait from Usha's description.
Present day Agnigarh is a hill on the banks of the Brahmaputra which is one of the big tourist attractions in Tezpur. There is a circular stairway leading up to the crest of the hill where there are now sculptures depicting Usha's abduction of Aniruddha, the son of Krishna and the ensuing battle by Krishna to free them. There is also a viewing platform with the scenery around the river banks as well as the town centre and the Kolia Bhomora Setu bridge across the Brahmaputra.
Ketakeshwar Dewalay (shrine): It is a holy site in the Ketakibari area of Tezpur in Assam. It is reputed to have one of the largest Shiva lingas in the world.
The actual site has two parts - one part where the actual linga is located and another part a few metres away where the original base of the linga is located. Legend has it that during a severe earthquake in the past the linga was uprooted from its base and deposited where it currently stands.
This shrine is open to visitors and there is a local committee which oversees the development of the area around the site. Originally it was in the middle of bamboo groves with a small pathway for people to approach on foot. Recently there is a full shelter that has been built on the site for the protection of the holy area from the natural elements as well as fopr the devotees to assemble and offer their prayers.
Day 5
Day 05: Tezpur / Kaziranga (80 kms, 1 ½ hrs drive)
Morning after an leisurely breakfast depart for Kaziranga National Park.
Kaziranga National Park: The oldest park in Assam, Kaziranga, on the south bank of the Brahmaputra River, is world famous for its great Indian one â horned rhinoceros, of which there are aplenty. Spread across 430 sq kms, it is a dazzling mosaic of dense rain forest, tall elephant grass and swathes of reeds interspersed with vast tracts of marshes and shallow pools that are a favourite haunt of this celebraty pre-historic beast. Wild elephant, hog deerand barasingha also abound. Book in advance for at least a night's stay at the forest lodge to catch those early morning views of him from elephant back. Jeep safaris are also arranged. This National Park is 217 kms from Guwahati and 96 kms from Jorhat.
En route enjoy the beautiful tea estates of Assam. Arrive Kaziranga and check in at the Jungle Resort.
Afternoon enjoy the Jeep Safari in the Western Range of Kaziranga National Park.

Day 6
Day 06: Kaziranga / Shillong
Early morning enjoy the Elephant safari in the Central range.
After breakfast depart for Shillong, the Scottland of East.
En route visit:
Borapani Umiam Lake, Locate4d about 17 kms from Shillong, Umiam Lake is highly popular for a relaxing time. The Orchid Lake Resort here has watersports facilities and the nearby Lum Nehru Park has an aviary and orchidarium.
Arrive Shillong and check in at hotel.
Shillong: Day long picnics amidst smokey blue hills thick with pine and orchids, singing brooks and crashing waterfallsâ¦for the british in this garrison town it was home. The scenic khasi hills reminded them the Scottish highlands â just perfect for those summer holidays away from the heat and the dust of India's plain.
Afternoon visit the old churches of Shillong.

Day 7
Day 07: Shillong / Cherrapunjee / Shillong (56 kms one way, 2 hrs drive)
Morning after breakfast drive to Cherapunjee.
Cherapunjee: Once world renowned for being the wettest place on earth, cherapunjee is impressive with its gushing waterfalls and the deep gorges. You get stunning views of the plains of Bangladesh. Cherapunjee's orange and honey are famous and you can pick up fine baskets from the Sohra Market.
In Cherapunjee visit
Krem Mawmluh cave: This cave is located half a km west of Cherrapunjee adjacent to the small hamlet of Mawmluh. The cave has five river passage with impressive proportions. The cave has a length of over seven Kms.
Also visit Cherapunjee's famous waterfalls: Close to the town are glorious Nohsngithiang Falls ( Mawsmai Falls), Dainthlen Falls, Nohkailikai Falls (world's fourth highest) and many smaller falls. The stunning gorges are worth all that film you carried with you.
Later return to Shillong.
En route visit
Shillong Peak (1965 m): About 10 kms from the town, it offers breathtaking views of the city spread out against its glorious hill slopes.
Later visit:
Ward's Lake ( also famous as Shillong Lake) and the landscaped Lady Hydari Park which also has a mini zoo.
The lewduh Market: The biggest in the North East, is wonderful for a bit of local flavors.
Shillong Golf Course: Shillong's popular 18 hole golf course (referred to as the Gleneagles of the east) holds its annual tournament in October, when these khasi hills are at their prettiest.
If time permits visit the Bishop Falls, Beadon Falls and the three step Elephant Falls.
Evening free to visit the famous Mall.

Day 8
Day 08: Shillong / Silchar (340, 7 hrs drs drive)
Morning after an early breakfast depart for Silchar.

Day 10: Agartala
Morning after breakfast excursion to the lake city Udaipur.
Udaipur : The main attractions in Udaipur are Tripura Sundari Temple, popularly known as MATABARI, one of the 51 pithas of Hindu Puran, Bhuvaneswari Temple, Gunabati group of Temples, Vast Lakes with scenic beauty.
Tripura Sundari Temple: This temple is one of the 51 pithasthans in India as per Hindu mythology. As per mythology, Lord Vishnu had cut off the body of Mata Sati into 51 pieces by Sudarshana Chakra and all these pieces fell at different places throughout the country and these places are known as pithasthans. It is said that 'right foot' of Mata Sati fell at Matabari. This pithasthan is also known as Kurma Pith because the shape of the temple premises resembles to that of "Kurma" namely tortoise. Inside the temple, the idol of Maa Kali is kept which is made of 'reddish black Kastic pathar.' Maa Kali is worshipped in her 'Soroshi' form in this temple. There is an idol of smaller size of Maa Kali called 'Chotto Maa 'and this image used to be carried by Maharajas of Tripura during "Mrigaya" namely hunting and also during war.
The temple consists of square type sanctum of the typical Bengali hut type structure with a conical dome. The temple was constructed in 1501 A.D. by the then Maharaja Dhanya Manikya.
In the eastern side of the temple there is a famous Kalyan Sagar where fishes and tortoises of huge size are found and devotees feed them with "muri" and biscuits. No fishing is permitted in the Kalyan Sagar. Every year on Dewali, a famous Mela takes place near the temple which is visited by more than two lakhs pilgrims.

Neer Mahal: This magnificent lake palace was constructed as a summer resort in 1930 by late Maharaja Birbikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur in the middle of a natural lake called Rudrasagar having an area of 5.35 Sq.Km. The construction was undertaken by Martin & Burn Co. and it is the only lake palace in the entire eastern India.
A good combination of Hindu and Mughal architecture is noticed on the domes of the palace. There are mainly two parts of the palace - one on the western side known as Andar Mahal which was used by the royal family and another on the eastern side which was used for the security personnel and servants. There are 15 rooms in the main Andar Mahal. There is a beautiful garden laid in the western side of the palace. In the garden there is an open stage where drama, theatre, etc. use to be organised.
Maharajas used to go by motor boat to the palace from Rajghat.
In water number of migratory birds are found in the lake surrounding Neermahal.
Kamalasagar Lake: Vast lake at the border of Bangladesh was excavated by Maharaja Dhanya Manikya in 15th century. On the bank of Kamalasagar, there is a famous temple of Goddess Kali dating back to 16th century. It is one of the excellent picnic spots in the statewith scenic beauty.
Later return to Agartala.

Day 11: Agartala
Morning after breakfast city tour of Agartala visiting:
Ujjayanta Palace: Situated in the heart of the town and covering an area of about half a square mile this place is a two storied mension having a mixed architecture with three domes, the central one being 86 feet high. The construction of this beautiful, well-balanced royal palace was undertaken in 1899 and completed in 1901 at a cost of a little over Rs 10 Lakh or 1 million. The two large tanks on two sides with the approach road in between them and well-laid out gardens around the palace with water courses and fountains patterned on Mughal gardens have added beauty to it. The palace has been acquired by the state Govt. and now house of the Lagislative Assembly, besides few Govt. offices.
Kunjaban Palace: Within a mile of the Ujjayanta Palace and to the north stands a picturesque hillock known as Kunjaban. The Palace was built by Maharaja Birendra Kishore Manikya (1909-23) who was a good artist and he said to have prepared himself the plan of the Palace and the adjoining gardens. The palace was considered as an ideal spot for relaxation and pleasure strolls in those days. The palace has been taken over by the state Govt. and now used as the official residence of the Governor of the State.
Jagannath Temple: Situated near Kunjaban Palace, the temple not only attracts Hindus, but many others because of its peculiar structure which is octagonal at the basement, and has an excellent âPradakshinapatha' (the sacred pathway that goes in the clock wise direction) round the sanctum.
Sipahijola: Half an hour from Agartala, through an attractive forest, Sipahijola is a beautiful nature and Zoological Park covering an area of 18.532 km. It is the house of more than 150 species of residential birds, migratory birds and lots of wild animals including spectacled monkey, tiger and leopards. With an attractive flowerage greenery and rubber plantation, the area now serves as a beautiful picnic spot.
Day 12
Day 12: Agartala / Kolkata depart
Morning after breakfast in time transfer to airport for the onward destination.
