Kerala is the most exciting State in India. Cochin is the historical heart, and Alleppey is the center of the unique backwaters and lakes region. This tour covers both, and includes a houseboat trip.

Itinerary

Day 1

Pick up Cochin airport, and transfer to Arches Hotels in heart of Cochin historical area.

Day 2

Day free to visit local sites. Within 1 km are old Portuguese/Dutch fort area, the port, and St. Francis' Church, the oldest European church in India.

Day 3

Day free to visit local sites. Within 2 km are Mantacherry Palace the home of the Raja of Kochi, built in 1555 and the Jewish Synagogue.

Day 4

Day free to visit nearby locations. Thripunitra Hill Palace was once the home of the royal family of Cochin. Cochin is a good centre to see Kathekali dancing, as it has several excellent theatres.

Day 5

Transfer to Keraleeyam Backwaters Resort. Visit Alleppey (Alappuzha) town on the way.

Day 6

Day spent on backwaters. The constant stream of activity on the water, with boats and fishermen, and the wildlife and flora keeps the attention.

Day 7

Day cruise on backwaters. There are several bird sanctuaries on the huge Lake Vembanad, and the trip is both fascinating and relaxing.

Day 8

Drop off at Cochin airport
