A serene holiday spent in the cool of Kerala's hills. Stay in an houseboat and visit to the beach to provide breadth. Watch the beautiful waterfalls & nature at close quarters
Itinerary
Day 1
Arrival at Cochin International Airport.
Drive to Alleppey and check in to houseboat (Kettuvallom. Alleppey, also referred to as the “Venice of the east”, is situated at the confluence of Vembanad Lake, Kerala's biggest backwater, and the Arabian Sea, offering a backdrop unique to this part of the world. Its beauty lies not merely in its backwaters, but also in the man-made islands that you will find amidst the waters. Mud-walls hedge these islands, a haven for migratory birds, with paddy fields inundated with water throughout the year. These islands are unique as they lie below the sea level. This is also perhaps the only place on earth where farming is done below sea level. Cruise leisurely along the intricate networks of canals (Kayals), passing through villages and paddy fields.
Night Stay in houseboat
Day 2
Check out after breakfast and proceed to Thekkady (Lord of Jungles)
Visit the world famous Periyar National Park, one of the 18 hotspots in the world recognized for their bio-diversity. Take a cruise on a bamboo raft, floating down the Periyar River, a picturesque lake at the heart of the sanctuary. If one is lucky enough, one can see the elephants frolicking in the waters, and also catch glimpses of wild animals like Gaur, Wild Pigs, Sambar, Barking Deer, Mouse Deer and very rarely a tiger. Set in the lap of the western ghats at an altitude of 2900-6000 ft, it is the largest wildlife sanctuary in Kerala. The peace and serenity of the place combined with the fresh air of the mountains makes one want to return for more.

Destination Munnar.
Munnar at 5000 feet is not just south India's most sought after hill resort, but also the center of Kerala's premier tea growing district, aptly known as the high range. Munnar (Moonnu aaru in Tamil) literally means 'three rivers', a reference to the streams around which the town grew. - If at all suspicious of fraud, ask to see their website, or any other literature they can provide or send to you. Ask them for contact details for guests who have previously stayed on their property insisting on telephone numbers. Be suspicious of emails that originate from free email services (yahoo, hotmail, gmail, etc)
- Research the property thoroughly on the internet to see if there is any history or mention of scams associated with the property.
