Itinerary

Day 1

Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel.

Day 2

Today's full day tour visits vast Tiananmen Square, the Imperial Palace in the once Forbidden City, and the exquisite Summer Palace with a boat ride on Lake Kunming (weather permitting).

Day 3

Today, experience a highlight of your tour as you walk the ancient ramparts of the astonishing Great Wall. After lunch, visit a cloisonn¨¦ factory to watch the skilled artisans create their intricate designs. Then stroll along the Sacred Way to the Ming Tombs and Chang Ling Exhibition Hall.

Day 4

Morning at leisure, then transfer to the airport for your afternoon flight to Chongqing. In the evening board your cruise ship to begin a memorable downstream cruise.

Day 5

A shore excursion at Shibaozhai shows its scenic 12-story wooden pagoda. Over 400 years old, this magnificent pagoda is known as the ¡°Pearl of the Yangtze.¡±

*Alternate shore excursion may visit Fengdu or Wanxian.

Day 6

Cruise through the first of the fabled Three Gorges: Qutang Gorge hemmed by mossy cliffs. At Wushan, an excursion takes you up the Daning River to view the famed Small Gorges. Continue by sampan to the picturesque mini-gorges of the Ma Du River. Alternatively, your excursion may be on Shennong Stream with its impressive small gorges. Sail on through Wu Gorge, celebrated for its Twelve Peaks. Cruise through Xiling Gorge, most scenic of all the gorges. Finally, sail through the Three Gorges ship lock.

Day 7

Morning visit to the Three Gorges Dam site. Continue on to Yichang where you disembark from your ship and transfer for your flight to Shanghai.

*If direct flight is not available, travel by motor coach to Wuhan and fly to Shanghai

Day 8

Sightsee Shanghai: Jade Buddha Temple, Yu Garden, Nanjing or Huai Hai Road shops, a carpet factory, The Bund, and see a charming performance at the Children's Palace.

Day 9

Fly home aboard Northwest Airlines. Cross the International Date Line and arrive home the same day.
