Pristine lakes, rivers and waterfalls and rolling hills and hilltribes make this the ideal trip for anyone seeking a combination of fun off-road riding and an eco-adventure.
Itinerary
Day 1
From Phnom Penh, we ride to Kompong Cham Province via the town of Skuon, famous for its deep fried tarantulas! After lunch in Kompong Cham we follow a scenic trail along the Mekong river through numerous fishing villages to the quiet, riverside town of Kratie. On arrival, we head out onto the Mekong river to catch a glimpse of Kratie's rare Irrawady dolphins, before spending the night in a comfortable new riverside hotel.
Day 2
We begin the day riding through remote forest and grassland regions to Stung Treng province, where we stop to refuel our bikes and our stomachs! We then join the red road and pass through thick forest to Banlung town, the provincial capital of Rattanakiri
Day 3
We spend a relaxing day, beginning at the breathtaking volcanic lake of Yeak Laom, believed to have been formed over 700,000 years ago. Surrounded by bamboo groves, this area is considered sacred by local hill tribes. We complete the day with a visit to Wat Arun hilltop pagoda and a ride through a rubber plantation to Cha Ong waterfall.
Day 4
Take a ride on a jungle trail through dense vegetation to Bei Srok gem mining village, where locals sift for rubies and sapphires. After lunch, we head to "Seven Steps", a series of crystal clear waterfalls which offers a quiet retreat. We will stay here for the night in the heart of the jungle.
Day 5
After returning to Banlung for lunch, we continue our day with a ride to Voeunsai National Park. Here we transfer to a boat and head upriver to a Jarai minority village, where we learn about their everyday lives and animist beliefs, visiting their haunting cemetery with its totems and ghost houses.
Day 6
Banlung to Kratie (as above)
Day 7
Kratie to Phnom Penh (as above)

Important Notice : Avoiding Fraud
It's rare, but some helpful hints to watch out for with regards to fraud:
- It is important to NEVER wire funds or use/employ other fund transfer mechanisms such as western union: Always use a credit card to protect yourself against fraud. If owners pressure you into providing a deposit or refuse to accept credit cards, there is a high probability that this is a scam.
- If at all suspicious of fraud, ask to see their website, or any other literature they can provide or send to you. Ask them for contact details for guests who have previously stayed on their property insisting on telephone numbers. Be suspicious of emails that originate from free email services (yahoo, hotmail, gmail, etc)
- Research the property thoroughly on the internet to see if there is any history or mention of scams associated with the property.
