The day will starts with a pick up from Bangkok city hotels and then we will transfer to one of the major sites in Ayutthaya, Wat Yai Chai Mongkol. We have a short tour before heading to over to Wat Phra Mahathat, famous for the Buddha head imbedded into twisted tree roots and its Khmer style temples. We have time to walk around to fully appreciate this site before taking to the bikes and cycling the short way through a park to Wat Si San Phet and the Old Royal Palace. The direction is now west towards the river and Wat Chai Wattanaram, where we will stop for a short break to visit the well preserved ruins.
The ride to the summer palace at Bang Pa-In is a real pleasure as we really escape into the Thai countryside, rising on quiet roads passing by the local communities that line this part of the river. The end of the ride is at a small ferry terminal, where we cross the river to our riverside lunch spot. After lunch we can visit the summer palace and Wat Niwet Thamapra, a gothic style temple built by King Rama 5. After the visit to the summer palace we will then head back to Bangkok and drop off at hotels. |
