Day 5 - Day 05: To Bharatpur A farewell dawn game viewing. This afternoon, depart by train to Bharat-pur. Overnight at your hotel.
Day 6 - Day 06: To Agra An early start to watch the birds– quite spectacular when they rise from their roosts into the azure sky. This wetland sanctuary has been declared a World Heritage site and is home to over 380 species of resident and migrant birds – including rare Siberian crane, side by side with storks and heron. Watch out for enormous python idly basking in the Sun. Afternoon drive to Agra stopping en route at Fatehpur Sikri, the imposing deserted city built by Akbar. Overnight at your hotel.
Day 7 - Day 07: Night train to Bandhavgarh Unforgettable morning visit to the Taj Mahal, dedicated to eternal love. Also visit the Red Fort – a World Heritage site – and tomb of Itmad-ud- Daulah. Late afternoon train for a night journey to Bandhavgarh. Overnight at your hotel.
Day 8 - Day 08: Bandhavgarh Morning arrival at Umaria railway station and drive to Bandhavgarh National Park. The park has 30 species of mammals and about 240 species of birds. Afternoon game drive to get an initial flavour of the park. Overnight at the Resort.
Day 9 - Day 09: Bandhavgarh Morning and afternoon safaris. Bandhavgarh is considered to be one of the premier parks for tiger sightings. The broken hilly terrain, grassy swamps and forested valleys provide the perfect camouflage for this predatory beast.
Day 10 - Day 10: Bandhavgarh Morning and afternoon safaris by elephant and jeep. The park was a former hunting reserve of the Maharaja of Rewa - today, a sanctuary, with more than 35 tigers roaming the jungle.
Day 11 - Day 11: To Kanha Drive to Kanha National Park (250 kms 7 hrs). Famously known as Kipling Country and a dedicated Tiger Reserve, Kanha and the nearby forests were the setting for Rudyard Kipling’s delightful Jungle Book. Imagine the mighty Sher Khan prowling close by as you watch and wait, secreted in your ‘hide’! Kanha is India’s outstanding National Park with about 30 species of mammals and 240 species of birds. Overnight at Resort.
Day 12 - Day 12: Kanha Morning and afternoon game viewing. The variety of habitat gives rise to a wonderful mix of animals to spot – the grassland plateau is home to the Gaur (Indian Bison) and four-horned Antelope, whilst in dense clumps of forest shy jungle cat and civet roam. Here Project Tiger is actively pursuing conservation projects in the park, increasing the chance to see tigers.
Day 13 - Day 13: Kanha Another day of game safaris looking for sloth bears, swamp deer, bison and the elusive leopard. Feel the echoes of Kipling’s books as you drive through the lightly wooded grassland where wolves and dhole lie in wait.
Day 14 - Day 14: Night train to Delhi A farewell morning safari before driving to Jabalpur to catch the overnight train to Delhi.
Day 15 - Day 15: Delhi Early morning arrival in Delhi. Transfer to airport for onward journey.
