| - I have just returned from a week in Cambodia and a week in Vietnam on a study tour for hospitality. We stayed at The River Garden just off the main road to Angkor. A wonderful hostess and staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are spacious and peaceful at night with a few frog noises and geckos! I would recommend a guide at Angkor or any of the temples and make sure they are a bona fide guide. I visited the local market where all sorts of produce is exchanged and it is very intriguing. A tour we did was a day in the life of a Cambodian village - perhaps the most worthwhile day we had. Places to eat are Salai Bai - cooking school in town and the French cooking school on the road to the airport for lunch at a very reasonable cost. Travel by tuk tuk at least once and then walk around - the hostess at The River Garden is most helpful with tips on travel and places to eat, shop and visit including The Angkor Artisans - definitely worth a detour etc..
