Itinerary

Day 1

After breakfast you cycle down the road from Msangeni all the way to Mwanga. This is a 7 kms (4.3miles) cycling. We finally end our cycling tour at Mwanga. We load our bikes on the Land Rover ready to go back to our Hotel for the next schedule.

Day 2

Travel in a 4x4 to the remote plains where the Hadzabe hunter gatherers live. Their settlements are not permanent. We will learn about their hut construction and how and why they move. In the afternoon go for a walk learning Hadzabe bush lore and their uses of different plants. Sleep in tents close to the settlement.

Day 3

Arise at dawn to attend a Hadzabe hunt. We are unlikely to see a kill but you will be able to follow Hadzabe trackers and learn of their skills and the many foods they harvest from the bush. In the evening we will provide dinner, a goat, to which our Hadzabe hosts will be invited.

Day 4

Return to town and onto the next stage of your journey.

Important Notice : Avoiding Fraud

It's rare, but some helpful hints to watch out for with regards to fraud:

  • It is important to NEVER wire funds or use/employ other fund transfer mechanisms such as western union: Always use a credit card to protect yourself against fraud. If owners pressure you into providing a deposit or refuse to accept credit cards, there is a high probability that this is a scam.
  • If at all suspicious of fraud, ask to see their website, or any other literature they can provide or send to you. Ask them for contact details for guests who have previously stayed on their property insisting on telephone numbers. Be suspicious of emails that originate from free email services (yahoo, hotmail, gmail, etc)
  • Research the property thoroughly on the internet to see if there is any history or mention of scams associated with the property.
