By far the best way to experience the Franschhoek Vineyards at your own pace by hopping on anytime that you choose and hopping off anywhere.
A selection of four great vineyards.
Itinerary
Day 1
Visit the wine estates of Cabriere, Dieu Donne, Grande Provence and Mont Rochelle on a Hop On - Hop Off basis.
Cabriere Estate:
Home of Pierre Jourdan and the Haute Cabriere wines, the beautiful Cabriere Estate, situated on the banks of the Franschhoek River, was granted to the French Huguenot refugee farmer Pierre Jourdan on 22 December 1694. Today these amazing wines can be tasted high up against the Franschhoek Pass with breathtaking views of the Franschhoek Valley. An award wining restaurant is also located on the premises for lunch and dinners.
Dieu Donne:
Situated high up on the steep southwest facing slopes of the Franschhoek mountains, Dieu Donne literally means "God Given" and our spectacular views endorse this translation.
Enjoy a picnic lunch (must be pre booked) or a cheese platter (from our deli) on the grass banks overlooking the valley.
The restaurant should be completed by mid 2007.
Grande Provence Estate:
Home of the Angels Tears wines, Grande Provence wears her 300 year history with dignity. True French traditions awaits you when you enter the gates to this lovely estate.
Sample some award winning wines in the ultra modern tasting room, browse around the art gallery, stroll through the Jonkershuis or simply enjoy the tranquility that Grande Provence offers you.
Mont Rochelle Estate:
Mont Rochelle is situated against the Klein Dassenberg Mountains and overlooks the Franschhoek Valley.
The gorgeous Cape Dutch Manor House, surrounded by stunning gardens and horse filled paddocks, as well as the tasting room staff, offers a homely feeling with personalised service and true South African hospitality.
Fine wines, cellar tours, wine tasting, horse riding, picnics, private dinners in the cellar as well as accommodation all form part of present and future plans at Mont Rochelle.
