Itinerary

Day 1

8am (your Riad/Hotel Reception) meet your driver and transfer, in a private 4x4, from Marrakech to the World Heritage Site of Ait Benhaddou. Continue to the oasis valley of Dades Gorge via the Skoura Palmerie and, in Spring, buy a garland of roses in Mgouna (Rose Valley) from one of the Berber children that line the route. Hotel in the valley gorge with evening meal and breakfast included.

Day 2

9am depart for the desert village of Merzouga and the dunes of the Erg Chebbi. On arrival in Merzouga your desert guide and camels will be waiting to take you across the Erg Chebbi dunes to your home for the night - a nomad tent at a desert camp in the dunes. Dinner is prepared and served under the stars by your desert guide. Erg Chebbi camel treks with evening meal and breakfast included and there is also the option to stay in a hotel at the dune line.

Day 3

Rise early to greet the new day and camel trek back across the desert to breakfast and depart. Transfer to Ait Benhaddou via the Todra Gorge.

Day 4

Visit the World Heritage Site of Ait Benhaddou and then continue to Marrakech with a detour to the High Atlas Berber village of Telouet to see the Kasbah of el Glaoui, former War Lord and Pasha of Marrakech. Arrive Marrakech early evening

4x4 desert tours also run Marrakech to Fes or Fes to Marrakech to make best use of your time in Morocco and you have the option of returning to Marrakech on the train.

Important Notice : Avoiding Fraud

It's rare, but some helpful hints to watch out for with regards to fraud:

  • It is important to NEVER wire funds or use/employ other fund transfer mechanisms such as western union: Always use a credit card to protect yourself against fraud. If owners pressure you into providing a deposit or refuse to accept credit cards, there is a high probability that this is a scam.
  • If at all suspicious of fraud, ask to see their website, or any other literature they can provide or send to you. Ask them for contact details for guests who have previously stayed on their property insisting on telephone numbers. Be suspicious of emails that originate from free email services (yahoo, hotmail, gmail, etc)
  • Research the property thoroughly on the internet to see if there is any history or mention of scams associated with the property.
