| - Most of the organised fishing is for 'game' fish - Marlin, sailfish, wahoo, dorado, shark, tuna etc, these are all found in deep water outside of the reef, as mauritus is nearly all surrounded by reef, you have to go outside of it, to catch this type of fish, this type of fish hunt the small shoals of tuna/bonito etc that are found in the open ocean, its not uncommon for a game boat to go 10-12 miles offshore to hunt the bait fish and then troll for marlin.Danda |
| - On my honeymoon in Mauritius I also went fishing. I caught 2 Marlin in one day, 1 of 165lbs and the other 565 lbs. It certainly made the Honeymoon memorable, although my wife is disappointed that the photographs of the fish appear to take precedence over any other photographs of the honeymoon!John |
